Chapter 1

"I can't believe this is actually happening!" I said with tears in my eyes. Happy tears just to clarify. My sister, Sanaa, was getting married.

"Oh, I can totally believe this is happening. Finally I can use your closet space!" My twin brother, Ahmed, teased my eldest sister. Probably trying to cover up how he feels by joking about it,I thought. No matter how macho he seemed, when it came to family, that was a major soft spot for him.With that we all huddled together into one big sibling group hug.

"My sister, is getting married!" I whispered to myself. Hoping that if I kept telling myself that, I would eventually believe it.

Maybe I should back up a bit and explain it all. My name is Hanna, Hanna Mohammed. The youngest daughter of the most amazing parents ever, Hassan and Fatima Mohammed. Today my eldest sister said yes to a proposal and was soon going to get married, and even though that is supposed to be a happy occasion, I couldn't help but feel really sad about it at the same time. Would things change now that Sanaa is getting married? Would our bond still remain as strong? No matter how much I doubted these things, I had no doubt in the man she was marrying,Kumail. Kumail was perfect for Sanaa. He was caring, religious, respectful, God-fearing, educated and he loved my sister to the moon and back. Words could not describe how happy I was for her.

Sanaa and Kumail were introduced through a mutual family friend, and the second they laid eyes on each other, it was like the Fourth of July! It was so cute watching them be all shy and blushing in front of each other, Ahmed and I would have a ball of a time every time they had meetings to get to know each other. After a while, Kumail formally proposed to Sanaa through my parents, which leads us to this moment when my sister said yes!

I sighed in happy content looking at the smile on my sisters face. She was happy. So I was happy. There was a wedding to plan. What could possibly go wrong? Boy, was I wrong! Because plenty did go wrong!
