"Oh my god! Is this a stain? Oh no what if it's doesn't come out!" Sanaa panicked looking close to tears, trying to look hard at the back of her dress.
"Sanaa, it's just powder." I said brushing off the brown so called stain. " calm down. Everything is going to be okay! It's just a dinner nothing big." I said smiling trying to ease her tension
"I know, it's just a bit over whelming." She said trying to take deep breaths to calm her nerves. "It's just that what if the rest of his family don't like me. I do only know his parents, so what about the others. Ugh it's so much pressure!" She sighed, her breathing exercises definitely not working.
"Sanaa, you just have to be yourself and they'll love you. They would be crazy not to!" I said sitting next to her and turning her face to face me. " I know that probably sounds cliche and all, but honestly don't be anyone other than yourself, because that was the person that Kumail fell in love with, and that's the same person the rest of his family will fall for too." I said, deciding just this one time not to make fun of her at the blush that spread through her cheeks at the words 'Kumail' and 'love'.
"Ooh look whose giving words of wisdom and trying to sound all grown up" she said trying distract me before I made fun of her. " maybe you should get married too" she said with a playful smile.
"Oh god! Not you too!" I said rolling my eyes," Dadi has been on my case about that since she's arrived." I said making us both chuckle.
Seeing Sanaa smile, made me realise how pretty she is and to say she looked beautiful, would be an understatement. She looked absolutely beyond beautiful. She was wearing a simple yet elegant purple dress, topped with a purple floral head scarf. I could only imagine how drop dead gorgeous she would look in her wedding outfit. But that was still a few days away. Today was the 5th of July- the day the two families got together over a family dinner. But it was not going to be just an ordinary, boring old dinner. I had a few plans up my sleeve with the help of Ahmed. And together we were going to be make this an unforgettable start to an unforgettable wedding.

Everything was going smoothly. All the guests had arrived, the gents were sitting in the dining room and the ladies were sitting in the now transformed and decorated living room. The two rooms were conjoined with the kitchen which was highly convenient. The smell of my mums chicken curry and butter naan, instinctively made me feel hungry. Of course I couldn't eat yet, we had to make sure all the guests ate before us. It's just common courtesy.
Naturally, the kitchen was in an absolute frenzy, with my mum and Aunty Yas filling all the food in bowls and me, Ahmed and some of our girl cousins taking them out for the guests.
"Mummy one bowl of Kheer(rice pudding) please." I called out to my mum, walking towards her, ready to pick it up.
"Rice pudding coming right up!" She called out. This definitely felt like a restaurant. "Here you go." She said handing me the bowl, filled to the brim with delicious smelling kheer. A very efficient restaurant at that, I thought smiling. But just as I turned around, ready to speed walk my way to the ladies section, I ran smack bang into someone holding an equally full jug of the pink lemonade Aunty Yas had made.
