Chapter Forty - Nine

As I was being lead by a police officer into a private room to see Kyle, Clarissa had decided to remain outside, giving in order to give us privacy. The room was basically empty with only desk and two chairs at the opposite side, the single window With the sun's beam was the only ray of hope that was present. Guilt washed over me, I couldn't help but felt responsible as the tears gathered... he hates me! he must!! I screamed in my head, this is it.... this is end of our love.... today he will leave me, the least I can do is show up and tell him I am at least sorry before he dumps me.

I sat there waiting, my heart pounding.... I can't believe I am gonna loose him, he has been my light in this entire place of darkness, I choke back a sob that escaped from my throat and I held my head down watching the tear drops fall in my lap, awaiting my fate.

Soon after the door open and in walked Kyle, his facial expression was empty and there was no smile. I knew without a shadow of doubt that my assumptions were true, Kyle did not love me anymore, I literally felt my heart break.

He silently sat across from me and the police officer who had accompany him in the room remained at the entrance from which they came. I knew he was staring at me but I didn't dear raised my eyes to him, I sat there with my head held low like a child who had done something wrong and knew he was in big trouble.

Look at me.... he said softly.

I ignored his plea and remain as I was.

Rihanna... look....at... me... he demanded but still in his soft tone.

I slowly raised my eyes and saw that despite his dull demeanor his eyes were filled with love and sadness.

I broke down in tears..... I am sooooo sorry...I cried.

what for?.... he asked still being soft and careful.

It's my fault you're here!.... I shouted crying harder now feeling defeated and exhausted. Immediately he rushed to my side in a heart beat and pulled me in his arms and hushed me like a parent putting their child to sleep.

Rihanna... Rihanna ...Rihanna... he began as I sobbed in his shoulder.... I had explain to you a thousand times but you still don't get it.... I would do it all again in a heart beat, I rest peacefully now knowing you are no longer in harms way and that asshole is dead.... the only thing that bothers me is that I am separated from you and the fact that you never visit... why didn't you visit Rihanna?

I --- I-- I didn't think you wanted to see me, I thought you hated me... I answered

He chuckled... Hating you is not in my vocabulary Rihanna... but love is and I love you very, very much.

I sighed as though a heavy burden has been lifted... I guess Clarissa was right, I am pretty stupid I thought to myself with a smile.

I missed you so much... he said as he swayed me in his arms.

Me too... I respond. I suddenly look up at him.... do you hear the charges they trying to stick on us? I asked.

Yeah .... he said, shaking his head at their outrageousness.

I swear we can't get a break!... I exclaimed and he chuckled.

I frowned at his response... why are you not bothered by this?... I asked.

He sighed before he began: well... the way I see it is I still had an opportunity to be with you because you're alive and well and you're carrying my child, it may take a few years if they succeed with their plot but I rather a few years apart from you than a lifetime, so I'll take what I can get.

I looked up at him shaking my head with a smile and he gave me a quick peck on the lips.

In the meantime my mom and my lawyers are working tirelessly to resolve this so hopefully I will be able to really get to kiss you the way I'd like very soon but please... he said.... don't stay away from me ever again.... I can endure the worst hurricane and the most disastrous snow storm but without you I wouldn't even survive a few drops of rain.

I looked at him curiously.... when did you become so sentimental?... I asked.

eh... my cell mate is a poet... he answered and we burst into laughter.
