I slowly walk onto the platform in District 11, where I must give the dreaded speech of how happy I am to have won. But this District will be the hardest...
I smile at the audience, and I look to where Rue and Thresh's families stand. I want this speech to be from the heart... without Rue and Thresh I would be dead.
"I first need to thank all of District 11, for the bread." I think back to when I got the moon shaped bread after Rues death, and I feel my eyes begin to water. "Rue was small, but she was smart. She was brave. And even though she was shy, she was never afraid. She saved my life many times, and I will always remember her. I will remember her in the beautiful rue flowers that grow in the meadow back home in District 12, in my young sister Prim, and in the mockingjay birds."
I know turned to where Thresh's family stood.
"Thresh was strong. Stronger than everyone else in the arena. I remember seeing him in the sky next to Cato, when they both fought and died. If I hadn't won, I wanted him to win. He had the option to kill me after he killed Clove, but he didn't. He spared my life, and there is no way I could ever fully repay him and his family."
I realize I have to do something for these people. I walk of the platform into the crowd and go to where Rue's family is. I take out a leather pouch filled with gold coins, and give it to them. I feel the tears start to come. I then walk to where Thresh's family is and give them another leather pouch filled with gold coins.
I slowly walk away and back to my platform, where I thank all of District 11 once again for the bread.
Once I'm alone in my room the tears begin to pour out and I'm sobbing on the floor.
Only 10 more speeches to go...
