Maine's sister, Coleen, was the one who recommended this song to Maine.
"Uy, Meng! Gusto mong kantahan si Alden?" Coleen asked her younger sister one night in their shared bedroom.
"Bakit ko naman siya kakantahan? Siya yung singer, uuyyyy." Maine jokingly replied.
"Kahit na sobrang bagay na bagay sa inyo itong song na ito?"
"Anong kanta ba yan?"
"The Closer I Get To You" Coleen replied proudly.
Maine, being the song expert, of course knew what song Coleen was talking about.
She loves that song.
But the problem for her is the meaning of the song. It's not like she has felt like that to anyone.
Well, that was before...
Coleen then started to play the song through her phone and sang along with it...

Each and every word of the song continued to ring in her ears.
Each word meant something now, and memories of them being together started to flash back through her eyes.
