Lucky's POV
Today was Sunday. I usually didn't go to church but I figured I should, I need God on my side.
I had finished getting dressed and was waiting on my mother and Rolland, downstairs. Ten minutes later they can came down.
"It takes you both forty-five minutes to get ready?" I had disbelief in my voice.
"Yes." They spoke in unison.
We were now on our way to church. My mother was driving, which meant we would be there late. Sure enough we were twenty minutes late for the sermon.
"God does everything for a reason." Our pastor spoke as we quickly sat towards the back of the church.
"God knows what he's doing. He won't let something happen 'just because'. When you couldn't pay a bill because you didn't have the money; but later on that day you found a hundred dollar bill. That wasn't luck, it was God helping one of his children. Even though he knew it was going to happen he still did it."
Thirty minutes pass, church was almost over and we were now praying.
"Lord, we come to you today; thanking you for the wonderful things you've done for us. Thank you for giving us the strength to come and worship you in your home. You are an all mighty God and we give you praise."
I heard a few women say 'yes Lord'.
"Heavenly Father we once again give you thanks for what you do for us. In Jesus name.."
"Amen."

Rolland's POV
I didn't know that Lucky went to church. The thought that my boyfriend, a thug, had time to worship God made me want to do what he did.
"Church was good." I spoke as we all were in the kitchen.
"Yes honey, it was." Ms. Eva spoke.
I looked at Lucky and he was on his phone. He seemed angry, "You okay?"
"Nah." He got up from the table and went upstairs. I heard the door slam and I was about to follow him.
"Let him be. Come help me out." Ms.Eva spoke.
I walked over to the kitchen sink and washed my hands. When I dried them off, I was handed a bag of potatoes. I was confused and looked at Eva.
"Child, I'm making mashed potatoes." She laughed.
"You want me to mash them?" I looked at the bag and frowned.
" You never made them before?"
I sighed, "My food was always cooked for me, I never helped."
Ms.Eva told me all of the things to do. She started by helping me wash them off, and pealing the skin. She then cooked them on the stove.
"Help me with the pork chops, just get the seasoning out the cabinet." I got some seasonings and handed them to her.
She was cooking them on the stove as well. She went to the corner of the kitchen where a cooler was. She opened it, steam escaped and corn of the cob was in her hand. She placed it in my hand, kicked the trash can by me and told me to peal. I did as told and when I was done Lucky came downstairs in shorts and a plain tee.
"I'll be back ladies." I smiled and Ms.Eva said goodbye.
