As I walked away from the house I could feel Serena watch me as I made my way out of her proximity and into the field next to her house. I tried not to think about the girl I had just met and focused on what was important – where I was, and what my next move would be.
It was clear to me now that the sphere I had travelled in was faulty. Whether this was a mistake by the Sky Master or a plan that had been set in motion by my Uncle Titus, all I knew was that I had to find Isaac and find out the truth.
I stopped in the middle of the field and let the wind pass over me. I took in a deep breath, breathing in the smell of the place. The air here was fresher than back home, I wouldn't be able to tell exactly where I was in the galaxy until night fall when I could look up at the stars. Though even that might not help me if I am not near anywhere familiar.
I looked around, I could hear loud engine noises coming from my far right, and I looked that way. Seeing what was obviously a road with elongated metal tubs on it – with wheels – I guessed this was the preferred mode of transportation around these parts.
I tried to remember some of the combat training and survival tactics I had learnt as a small child in case of war, or if I ever had to flee from home. Nothing seemed to be coming back to me though, my head was still hurting from the faulted Sphere and I was having trouble adjusting to this planets gravity.
I ran off into some trees on the far left of the field, leaving Serena's house far behind. Once in the cover of the trees I had time to think properly. I sat down under a tree and inspected the soil. I could tell just by the look of it that it was rich in nutrients, and the plant life surrounding me was extra confirmation.
I wonder....
I thought, they couldn't possibly have sent me? Could they, after I ordered them not to make any more moves on the planet we had found until I had got back? But that would explain...I got up quickly, wiping the dirt on the clothes I had just been given, I looked around, but the forest was still, the sun only just creeping up in the distance, casting light through the foliage, turning into yellow and reds as autumn came upon them.
They had sent me to the planet-which they intended to mine. I was a fool to think the council would let me leave to find my Father. Someone must have bribed the Sky Master to sync my Sphere to this planet. It wasn't faulty at all; it had just been programmed to look as if it were.
Isaac being here was either because he found out what had happened, or because he was here to make sure I didn't interfere with the council's plans of invasion.
I had to find him, now.
I ran into the forest with a new purpose. For the first time in my life my Father would have to wait. I needed to sort this mess out. Now I knew for certain there was intelligent life here, I couldn't let the council just come in and take down this world for their own.
I had to make a tough decision.
I couldn't destroy this world to save ours, and the council needed to know.
