Analyn's POV:

December

Ever since I had started to tutor Gabe, we had gotten much closer. We would go penny boarding and keep things just as friends. I had tried to get over the fact that him and Denise are together now. Gabe finally had a B plus in Chemistry. But he would always make little excuses to come to my house so I can help him with homework. He had stayed on the dance team and I had always helped him whenever he had a problem. I guess we were just comfortable with each other now. But every time I saw him with Denise, my heart just shattered into a million pieces. My phone rang.

"Hey Lani." I sighed as I turned the t.v. low.

"Party at this abandoned house tonight." She cheered. I sighed. "I know you're not busy. So you're coming over. Dress cool please."

"Fine. What time?" I shake my head.

"Eight. So you have thirty minutes right now." And the line went dead. I groaned and got up. It's Saturday please let me enjoy it by myself.

I go to my room. I see what I have in my closet. I put on a gray muscle tee that said BAD in black letters with a black bandeau, black shorts that had gold rhinestones on it. I put on some Vans and brushed my hair. I put some makeup on and grabbed my phone. I decide not to take my penny board because in case someone tries to rig my drink I'm gonna forget it.

I look at the abandoned house. Well, I know how I'm gonna die today. I open the broken door and look inside. Messed up couch, hole punched in walls, graffiti, etc. I felt uncomfortable. Music was blaring, drinks were out, drugs were kicking in, couples were being couples. The last party Lani had in this house, the cops came. But no one got arrested, thankfully.

I saw Gabe with Denise. He looked at me and gave me a small smile. I put my head down and walked over to the drinks. Nothing but stuff that will kill you. I see this clear looking beverage, maybe it's water. I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff. I pick it up and take a sip. Ew, that's nasty. Nothing to drink or eat, besides pizza. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket. Eh, just a friend from school. I feel a tap on my shoulder and I turn around.

"Oh hey Gabe." I manage to speak out. Butterflies are back.

"Hey. This really isn't your scene is it?" He asks. He knows this isn't my kind of party. I shake my head.

"Where's Denise?" I question, being curious about why this Pulse Elite Prodigy is talking to me.

"Um.. With some guy over there." Gabe points to Denise who is obviously flirting with this really tall guy. Ah, quarterback for the football team.

"Oh. You do know she's flirting with him right?" I tell Gabe as I look over to Denise and QB boy.

"How can you tell?" Gabe scrunches his nose. That gets me every time.

"First of all, she's twirling her hair. Second, she's standing really close to him. Third, she's playfully hitting him. And lastly, she's batting her eyelashes." I explain.

"Oh well. They're perfect for each other." He shrugs.

"You're not mad at her?" I ask.

"Nah. Let's get out of here." Gabe grabs my hand and we go outside. A cold wind hits my body. This town we're in, it's pretty much different. It's not "ghetto" it just looks.. Yeah ghetto. Gabe and I walk around this town. A few guys walk past us and look at me. They whistle and make weird dog noises.

"Disgusting." I whisper, gagging.

"Here take my sweatshirt." Gabe pulls off his white Adidas sweatshirt. "They're immature."

"Are you sure?" I ask him, but I would love that jacket. He nods. I put it on, and Gabe pulls me close to him. Dang his sweatshirt smells so good.

"Aye dude, she's taken. And she doesn't need a boy like you." He wraps his arm around my shoulders. "Now, get out of here or I'll make you get out of here."

They quickly walk away and I smile.

"Wow. Protective much?" I say. His arms are still around my shoulders. He smirked. We just looked at each other and I smiled. He started to lean and so did I. Felt right, but so wrong at the same time. He kissed me, I kissed back. I quickly pulled away.

"What's wrong?" Gabe asked.

"You have a girlfriend. It isn't right for me to do that." I shook my head.

"Even after all these years, you're still innocent." He cupped my cheek. "You're still the same Analyn I fell in love with five years ago."

"You what?" I looked at him. "In love. With me?"

"Yes. How can someone not love you?" Gabe moved some hair out of my face.

"I don't know. I'm not what everyone wants." I shrugged. "Don't fall in love with me, you'll end up hurt."

"I can't help but fall in love with you babygirl." He pulls me close to him.

"You have Denise okay? You want her. You need her. And of course, I can NEVER be her." I shook my head.

"You don't need to be like her." He tells me.

"Tell me Gabe, what do you see in other girls when you're not looking at me?" I ask.

"That they aren't you. They aren't as beautiful and smart as you. They aren't worth my time." He explains.

"You shouldn't even be with me right now. You need to be with Denise." I step away from him.

"Analyn-" He starts.

"Gabe I'm sorry. But you know better not to be with me." I walk away slowly. I turn around and walk a few steps, I look back and he's still standing there. I keep walking, head down and tears in my eyes.

Wow, this chapter killed me. Only 2 more chapters left and you see a big ending. Gabe is so sweet. Analyn is denying the fact that she loves him. OH ANALYN WHY SO STUPID!?
