Recap: Sebastian got a warlock, Toby Lockheed, to place Jace and Clary in a state of sleep while in their mind they lived out a different reality. Alec's parabatai rune is fading and becoming itchy, due to Jace believing Sebastian is his parabatai in his mental reality. The longer Clary and Jace stay in the reality, the more likely they will join Sebastian once they are freed, which is his plan all along. Magnus and the others are trying to find a way to save them but haven't got anywhere. In the mental reality Clary killed Luke and her and her parabatai, Will have got themselves in a sticky situation.

"But I want to kill her for what she did to Lucian, Bat. And anyway, Valentine sent them. They won't put up much of a fight. It was unfair for Lucian. Two against one. Now the odds are against them." Clary smirked, enticing the female forward. Suddenly Maia attacked.

Clary and Will stood back to back, fending off wolf after wolf, managing not to harm one too badly. Maia rushed and kept at Clary who swung her seraph blade at the right time, striking her heart. Maia fell to the floor, limply, dead. Her wolf friend reared in grieve before running at Will and Clary with all of the wolves at once.

Waiting here in line, hoping that I'll find what I've been chasing
I shot for the sky
I'm stuck on the ground

Everyone finished dinner in silence. Tears silently slipping into their food. Isabelle was the first finished and sat, staring at Clary and Jace's places at the table. Once everyone had finished. She stood up and cleared the table. Magnus and Alec headed to the infirmary to check on Jace and see if his parabatai rune was the same as Alec's.

When Magnus and Alec reached Jace, Alec collapsed to the floor in pain. He screamed as Magnus dropped besides him in alarm. "Alec?! Alec?! What's happening?! Alec are you okay?!" Magnus shouted at his lover, desperately trying to see what was wrong. Alec's screams brought Jocelyn, Luke, Maryse and Isabelle into the infirmary in a hurry. "Alec?! Magnus what's going on?!" Isabelle cried, reaching for her brother who was clutching his neck in pain.

Magnus lifted Alec onto the bed next to Jace and Clary and managed to pry his hand off of his neck. "It's the parabatai connection. Whatever is happening in the mental reality that Sebastian created, it's dragging Jace further and further away from Alec. Causing unbelievable and excruciating pain. The only way I know how to stop this is to bring Jace back, but I can't." Magnus said as he sprinkled some of his magic on Alec and made him fall asleep. "If he's asleep he can't feel the pain. It's the most I can do at this moment. I will try and find out another way. I won't let Alec suffer some much pain."

Magnus returned his attention to Alec's face and slowly bent down, placing a kiss on Alec's lips. "I will be your knight in sparkling armour, Alec. You can count on it." Magnus murmured in Alec's ear.
"How can we help?" Jocelyn asked, bringing Magnus' attention back to the fact that him and Alec were not alone.
"Books, spells, try and find something to do with the parabatai bond that will help or how to bring Jace out, even if it's temporary." Magnus instructed, shooing everyone off to the library wheel he stayed with his love.
