Chapter 22

I felt their presence before I felt a hand shake me awake. My eyes popped open to be greeted by a group of small girls dressed in girl scout uniforms.

"Are you okay?"

"You feel asleep."

"Who is she?"

"She's the woman that Luna brought home."

"Shh! We better get Ms. Ashley."

"Ms. Ashley!"

All at once the girls starting to speak and whisper. The one screaming for who I assume was the adult took off running. I stretched and picked up the sketch book that was lying on the ground. "Hello girls, what are you doing?"

"We are working on a badge."

"Really which one?"

"Maze."

"Oh I see, well I better leave you all to it." I stood up and the girls parted allowing me a path through them. I only took a couple of steps before one of the girls returned with the scout leader, Ashley.

"Hey, Eva right?" Ashley blocked my path with a seriousness to her voice that immediately put my defenses up.

"Yes."

"They are looking for you." She pointed behind her bringing some of the girls closer to her body and slightly away from me. She moved so that the group of girls were behind her and I moved along with her keeping my distance heading towards the path that would lead me out of the garden maze.

"I fell asleep out here. Do you know who is looking for me?" I kept my voice quiet trying to ease the protectiveness that she had around the girls, as if I was going to snatch them away.

"Not really just passed a security team, they are on their way to come get you." Her voice was calm but her eyes held a wariness that shone she knew more than she let on.

"Thanks. Bye girls, good luck on your badge." I waved at the girls and turn to make my exit.

A chorus of byes and thank yous followed me as I made my way out of the maze. The exit was blocked by a three-man security team. "Hi, I hear you were searching for me. Where are you taking me?"

"We've been asked to escort you to your room." The tallest spoke as the others stood with straight face devoid of any emotions.

"By who?"

"Alpha." The spokesman of the trio held up a hand motioning for me to walk towards the house.

"Fi! Fi!" Caden voice was heard before I saw his little body running towards at an alarming fast rate, while being chased by a teenaged girl.

"Caden, no! Stop!" I recognized the girl as, Tina, who had taking him to eat on several occasions. Before Caden reached me, my guards had stood in front of me creating a barrier.

"Caden turn around and go with Tina." The spokesman had dropped down to Caden's level stopping him before he reached me. Caden squirmed trying to move around him to get to me.

"Fi!" Caden growled.

"Sorry Bradley. Caden come on we have to go." Tina had tried to coax Caden away from our group, but he ignored her, his determined eyes planted on me.

"No, Fi! I want Fi!" Caden had screamed and wiggled out of Bradley hands and tried to crawl through the legs of the other guards. We starting to attract attention among the other pack members.

Sighing I took a step toward Caden, but was immediately yanked backwards by another guard. "You are not allowed to interact with him." The once muted guard snarled at me and I almost snarled back. However I kept my composure and shoved his unwanted hands off my waist.
