Dan's POV
Waking up, Dan feels the chill of his open window, the wind making him shiver. After stretching and probably making whale noises while doing so, he gets up to close it. Knowing he had to work at eleven this morning, he got up and went to his kitchen. Dan wasn't an amazing cook, but he was able to make a decent meal. He preferred take out most of the time anyways.
As his scrambled eggs, well, scrambled. Dan tidied up his flat. Once and awhile it gets messy, especially the living room. After he ate, and his apartment looked 100% better, Dan hops into the shower. The warm water cascaded down over him and hit his back in a relaxing way. He wished he could just stay under this warm safety of the water and never leave. When he gets out and went to his room, his eyes widen when his clock said that it was 11:29 AM. He was late.
"Stupid warm water," He muttered to himself, rushing around to get ready quickly. Tripping on the ends of his jeans as he tries to pull them on, he curses multiple times. If he didn't wear skinny jeans it would probably be a lot easier. Not having time to flat iron his hair, he grabs his coat and slips on his shoes. After he locks the door, he realizes he left his keys, wallet, and phone on the counter. "Damn, just my luck." Dan says to himself as he sprints down the stairs and out of the lobby of his building. Luckily, the coffee shop, Aroma Therapy, was only a block away. Running as fast as someone who never exercises can, he makes it to the shop at 11:56.
"Dan!" His manager, Robbie, yells at him. Robbie was actually a nice guy, if you're not late. "Why are you late? Explain, now." As Dan explained, he was trying desperately trying to fix his curly hair, hobbit hair, as he calls it. "Okay," Robbie said, " You're a pretty good employee, just, don't make it a habit okay?" Dan nods, tying his brown apron with a coffee cup on.
"Hey," Olivia said, nudging his arm, "Can you get the window booth guy? I'll take the four at the center, kind of a thank you for staying over on your shift yesterday. " She walks away briskly, leaving Dan looking for the customer. Finding him at the front window booth, he freezes, seeing it was Phil, the guy he talked to yesterday and couldn't get off his mind.
"Hi, are you done with your drink?" Dan timidly says. What was this guy doing to him? He usually was confident, not worrying about what others thought about him. Phil looks up from his laptop screen, smiling up at him. Dan blushes, his eyes looking down.
"Wait, you're Dan right? I don't mean to sound like a stalker, I just remember you from yesterday." Phil looked at him expectantly, and Dan nodded his head.
"Yeah, Phil, right? Must customers don't-" He was interrupted by someone tapping on his shoulder. Looking over, he saw a fairly cute girl, with black hair and bright brown eyes.
"Hi, there," She said flirtatiously, "I'm Lily, and I wanted to know if you wanted to get lunch sometime?" She winked, and Dan blushed, flicking his eyes over to Phil. Phil was trying to make it seem like he wasn't listening, and that he was genuinely interested in the people doing their normal Saturday afternoon business. But which Dan knew he wasn't. Lily cleared her throat, trying to get the attention back on her.
"I'm sorry, Lily," Dan saw Phil sneak a look, making his blush grow. Phil had him a mess. "I just don't really, roll, with your crowd you know?" He looked at her expectantly, just hoping she would understand and he wouldn't have to say the word out loud. She rose her eyebrows, and cocked her head to the side. Dan sighs, shaking his head.
"I mean I'm gay." Her face instantly changed to a look that Dan wasn't sure how to comprehend. He glanced at Phil, who noticed and caught his eyes. Both of them looked away at the same time and Dan realized Lily was still standing there. "All the hot ones are gay!" She pouted, turning on her heel and walking back to her friend who looked disappointed as well. Dan turns to Phil, who was hiding a smile behind his hand.
