I run to the bus in hysterics.

"Rivers I said ten-", she stops as she sees Chasity's tear soaked face.

"Are you okay"

"Yeah coach,but I don't want to talk about it right now can we just go please"

She opens her mouth to say something else, but just nods her head as I make my way to my seat.

Maxine stands up as I squeeze in to sit on the inside . She sits next to me and looks at me waiting for an explanation.

Background Knowledge: Maxine is my bestfriend. We've been friends since pre k. She has brown skin and brown eyes with poofy black hair.

I cry as I explain everything that just happened.

She holds me close and wipes my tears.

"Oh my goodness poor

Chasity. Next time I see him I swear I'm going to give him a piece of my mind and my fist."

"Its okay"

"No it's not I'm not going to sit here and let you be hurt while he just sits there fucking with Selena as happy as can be no fuck that."

"I just want to focus on winning this game I can lead my team to playoffs."

"Now we're talking just forget about Kyle okay . Hes a piece of shit who doesn't deserve you."

I give her a small smile as I turn to look out the window. We were almost to our destination Lancaster, California.

More Background Knowledge: Chasity is in the 10 grader and plays on Varsity. Maxine is a 10 grader also and plays on JV.

I fell asleep and I woke up to Maxine shaking me.

"Chasity were here"

I yawn and stretch my arms. I grabbed my stuff and start filing off the bus rubbing my eyes.As I pass the coach she pats me on the back.

"You okay Rivers"

"All good coach", I reply as I step off the bus.

We all head to the gym the JV girls go to the locker room to prepare for their game. I also go in there to wish my bestfriend good luck.

"Excuse me",I say as I push past the girls in the locker room.

"Hey Max", I say when I finally reach her.

"Oh hey Chasity"

"I just wanted to wish you luck before your game"

"Thank you and don't worry about that piece of shit Kyle anymore okay everything is going to be okay"

"Thank you bestfriend, well I gotta go,"I say then I pull her into a hug then leave.

As I open the door to leave the locker room 3 boys almost fall in.

"Hey what are you pervs doing",I yell as they get up and fix themselves.

One of them answer. The cutest one I might add.

"The question is what are you doing aren't you supposed to be getting ready for your game"

I stare into his eyes for a moment and I realize he's mixed just like me except his eyes are green and they bore into my blue eyes with such intensity I'm almost at a lost for words.

"A-a-actually I'm on varsity"

"You seem a little I dont know small if you ask me", he replies.

His friends chuckle in the background.

I just sit there and stare lost in his eyes. Then all of a sudden a pretty blonde walks up behind him linking his arm with hers.

"Baby what are you doing",she asks.

"Nothing babe just wishing this varsity girl good luck",he answers in a bored tone.

And with that they walk away. I stand there for a minute still in a daze when I hear the JV girls chanting. Knowing they're about to run out of the locker room and to the gym . I make my way over there before I am seen.

In sitting in the gym and the JV girls are in their fourth quarter. They're also winning by 12 points. All of a sudden my phone buzzes. I look at the screen.

Kyle Baby: Chasity I'm sorry please talk to me. :(

I stare at the message and finally decide to grow a back bone

To Kyle Baby: Fuck you :)

And with that I smile as I shut my phone off. In the back of my head I know I still love him and getting over him is going to be very hard. But for now I have to put on a brave face for me, Maxine,and especially my team.

The JV girls game ends. They win 61-47. We all stand up and clap as they head to the locker room chanting and celebrating. The JV boys come out and start stretching and warming up for their game. I decide I'm hungry and head to the snack bar. I hear someone clear their throat behind me so I turn around. It's that boy with the green eyes from earlier except he's alone.

"Umm I just wanted to say I'm sorry if you thought I was being a jerk earlier it's just I didn't think you'd be on varsity because you know your kinda small."

"Oh its fine I get that a lot I'm actually a 10 grader kn varsity so I kinda expect it."

"You are because I am too"

"No way "

"Yeah I'm serious my name is Darren by the way"

"I'm Chasity", I say with a smile.

"Mhmmm",grunts the snack bar lady .

"Oh shizzle pucks. I'm sorry can I have a bag of potato chips please." I say handing her my 20$.

She hands me my chips with my change. I drop a dollar so I bend down to pick it up. And as I'm walking out the door he touches my arm. I feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. I turn around.

"Good luck, Chasity "

"You too Darren"

I start walking faster to the gym when he catches up with me .

"Wait he says. Can I have your number."

I look at him . I've never given a guy I just met my number but something was different about him something I couldn't quite place. He hands me his phone and I put my number in there.

"Thanks see ya around",he says when I hand him back his phone.

I turn and head back towards the gym as red as ever.
