"Amber! You have got to get out more! I mean you are missing so many opportunities with great guys," Claire whines from across the Starbucks table, taking a small drink of her latte.
I roll my eyes and chuckle, "Tell me this Claire. If you were a boy, would you want a freakish home schooled girl with gay parents? Don't get me wrong, I love my dads and all-"
"You are not a freak! But I mean, who cares? You are hot Amber and even I can see that," Claire retorts, leaning in closer to me, "You can't just be a virgin forever you know."
My face turns beat red in frustration and embarrassment. She didn't understand!
Claire was the head of the cheer team in her school and was friends with everyone. Luckily, she was the only friend I had. We both have complete different social lives. Claire parties, I sleep. Claire messes around with boys, I can maybe say two words to them.
Claire and I have been best friends since we were toddlers and grew up like family. Her parents (Zoe and Alfie) have been friends with my fathers since the YouTube days. She has always been more outgoing and adventurous than I have, yet sweet and caring. Claire is practically perfect, which makes me envy her immensely.
"Sorry Amber, but it's just the truth. I can maybe set you up with Jacob-" I put my hand over her mouth and raise my eyebrow at her.
She pushes my hand off of her freshly painted red lips and takes a sip of my coffee before popping a piece of gum in her mouth. "You know I love you and everything, but I can do this on my own," I mutter, taking my own coffee out of her hands.
Claire laughs, covering her mouth with her freshly manicured nails. Flipping my blonde hair from my eyes, I give her a confused stare. "I don't see what's so funny?" She rolls her eyes towards me, adjusting her white jumper.
"Okay Miss 'I Can Do This By Myself', go talk to that boy over at the far table," Claire giggles, pointing across the room to the back of a broad shouldered boy. I stand up slowly, giving her a dark glare as I waltz my way over to the table across the small franchise. I was going to prove my point for once and for all.
As I reach out to touch his shoulder, my feet cross over each other and I fall in front of the mystery boy. Feeling my face heat up as Claire's stifled laughs echo the room, I hear a lower pitched voice ask from behind me, "Hey, are you alright?"
I feel strong hands grab ahold of my waist as I struggle to my feet. Turning around, I'm face to face with a green eyed, tan boy with bushy eyebrows. "I'm sorry for probably startling you. Hi, my name is Chris," Outstretching his hand, I give it a warm shake and his soft palms collide with mine.
God, he was gorgeous.
Chris stands awkwardly as I stare at him, admiring his gorgeous figure. Coming back into reality, I realize what a creep I must be. "Hello, I'm Amber. Sorry, my best friend Claire wanted me to grab her a travel mug from behind you and I'm just way to clumsy to complete that task," I lie, chuckling at my own stupidity. He grins at me and I can almost feel my heart explode out of my chest.
"Well Amber, it was a pleasure talking with you, but I must be get going. But, I must get to know you better. Can we set up a coffee meeting at a later date?" He grabs my hand and gives it a slight peck.
I nod as his eyes come back up to meet mine. "8'oclock tomorrow night," I state as he nods and makes his way through the entrance doors.
Running back over to Claire, we both squeal and clasp hands back together, jumping around in a circle. "AMBER!"
"CLAIRE!" I squeal back.
"I can not believe you just picked up that stud of a man," She scoffs, throwing her empty cup in the trash. Zipping my jacket, I was beaming from ear to ear. I just couldn't wait for what Dan and Phil had to say.
