"Aleksandr, c'mon! Booth at the corner, you know this is your turn." My coworker sighed.
I flinched as she spoke, sighing. "Sorry, Stef. I'm just kinda lost in thought today, my bad." I adjusted my black shirt, beginning to walk out to the table with the notepad in my hand.
"Yeah, you sure seem like it." Stefani laughed, talking about the 'I <3 my job!' design on the back of all the employees' shirts.
I scoffed, quickly flipping her off before making my way to the booth.
"Hello, my name is Aleksandr and I'll be your waiter for today. Can I start you off with some drinks..." I slowed down at the end of my sentence, noticing who was sitting down.
"Hey!" James grinned, giving a quick wave.
"Why are you..?"
"You told me you worked here yesterday. I decided to swing by with a couple of my friends." He motioned to the two across from him. The man with a crimson hat waved, and the one with lengthy hair whom I saw yesterday smiled. "That's Jordan and Joe." James announced.
"The J squad." I announced dramatically with hand motions. The three laughed, causing a small smile on my face. "But yeah, drinks?"
"Can I have a Pepsi?" Jordan asked, followed by James and Joe wanting one as well. I nodded, writing it down.
"I'll be back." I stated, quickly walking to the back.
"You know them?" Stefani asked with a smirk.
"Uh, yeah. I know the dude with the beanie. He's my neighbor." I said as I placed three pepsis on a round platter. I walked back over to the booth, placing the platter down and passing out the drinks.
"So do you know what you would like to order today?" I asked.
"Yeah, can I have-"
"No, wait, I still need a minute!" Joe cut Jordan off abruptly.
"Can you sit with us?" James seemed like he hesitated before asking.
"Oh, sadly I can't. I'm not on break yet. Gotta take care of all these customers." I exaggerated at the end, motioning towards the few amount of people in the restaurant.
James let out a scoff, scooting over and patting the area next to him. "C'mon. Sit with me for a bit."
I looked back towards Stefani, who mouthed out an "I'll cover you.". I nodded as a thanks, taking a seat next to James. The smell of his cologne entered my nose soon after.
Me and the guys talked for a bit more until I decided it was time to get back to work. After the three ate, Jordan and Joe left while James decided to stay until the end of my shift, which he only had to wait about a half hour.
"Any plans for today?" James asked on our walk home.
"Not that I know of." I replied, sliding my phone back into my pocket after checking for notifications.
"Well Aleksandr, the day is still young. You up for spending it with me?"
A smile crept on my face, a small laugh leaving my mouth. "A day with you?" I scoffed. "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy." I joked.
James gasped, placing his hand on his chest. "That was uncalled for." He wiped the invisible tear under his eye, crossing his arms and giving me the cold shoulder.
I playfully punched his arm, shaking my head. "Where do you wanna go?" I asked as we approached the apartment complex.
"Grab your pup. I wanna take you somewhere.. special." He licked his lips, flashing a side grin.
