L.A Maximum Security Women's Prison...California

"I hope you have good news Parker."

"I do indeed. Tomorrow you will be a free woman. The DA approved your release."

I smiled widely to myself at the information Parker is telling me.

I am going home.

"Thank you so much. I don't even know how you managed to get me out in eleven years," I praised.

"Well. It was a pleasure being your lawyer. I do hope I don't have to represent you for murder again," he joked.

"I hope so too," I laughed back. "They stopped chaining my feet everytime I have a visitor. So that's a good sign."

He ducked down to look under the table to see me feet. He came back up with a smile on his face. "Nice! So you have had visitors?"

"Yes actually. You are not the only that enjoys my company you know!" I laughed.

"Clearly I'm not," he said getting up. "I have to get going Kate. I'll see you tomorrow."

Parker was then escorted by the guard out of the visitors area, leaving me a bubbling fool.

Good behaviour finally paid off.

"Kate Johnson. It's time," a grumpy guard called me from my cell. I got up from the cold hard floor and followed her to wherever she was taking me.

"Change," she commanded while throwing a black bag of items in a stall that only had a curtain shielding me from people on the other side of it.

I opened the black bag and saw that in it were my stone wash ripped jeans, a normal plain, black top and my favourite Nikes. It's been eleven years since I wore these clothes. I doubt they will even fit me.

To my surprise, they actually did fit. The jeans may even have been a little baggy, but other than that. They were a perfect fit.

"We don't have all day Johnson!" The same grumpy guard called at me.

"I'm done!" I quickly got the jumpsuit and plastic shoes from the floor and stepped out of the cubicle.

I was then instructed to put the clothes in a small blue basket. After that, the guard made me sign a few papers and walk through a metal detector-look-alike machine.

"Don't I have to see my lawyer first?"

"Is he here now?" She spoke annoyed.

"Ehh?"

"You can leave now."

From there, a different guard walked me out through a few corridors that led to the one and only door standing between me and freedom.

The guard opened the door for me and immediately I was blinded by camera flashes from every angle.

"Kate! Kate! What do you think will happen with your career?"

"Are you still going through with your wedding?"

"Where is your fiancè?"

"Didn't he call off the engagement when you were arrested?"

All these questions were flung to me as I made my way through the bodies, dodging audio recorders on the way.

"This is my stop Johnson. Goodluck," the guard told me before he went back to the door we had originally came out from.

The reporters were still asking questions that I ignored. I looked around over the reporters to see who was picking me up. When I saw my car at the far end of the street. I knew Christian was here. I padded over to it with media on my tail and I got a little too excited with every step. I was almost at the car when I saw the door open. Stepping out was indeed Christian. He had a huge smile on his face and my favourite flowers in his hands. Lilies

"Is the wedding still on?" I heard one of the reporters ask.

Christian walked to me one of his signature goofy grins he always gives when he is overly excited about something. Seeing him smile, made me so happy. Happy and relieved.

"I'm so happy to see you out that jumpsuit," he joked.

"I'm so happy to see you."

He leaned down to kiss me and the press went crazy.

"Let's go home Kate."

Home...California

"Welcome home love," Christian said with humor.

"I was only gone for eleven years!"

We shared a laugh before everything started to sink in.

"Nothing has changed. It all looks the same."

"I couldn't touch anything after you left. I didn't sleep in our room for almost three years because I was so upset," he explained.

I stayed silent not knowing how to respond to that.

"Have you been to see my father?"

"Yes. Every once in a while since you were gone," he said and disappeared into the kitchen.

"Does he know about me and the whole Jacky thing?"

He was silent for a bit that I thought he didn't hear me. "I didn't tell him. He believes you don't care for him anymore. I think you should go see him."

My life has changed dramatically. I remember when I was just a thirteen year old girl and had a mother. Then things blew up and suddenly my mother wasn't actually my mother. I remember when I used to be so angry and tell Carlene that she wasn't my mother anymore. From being thirteen to thirty-one, my life has been undergoing the same drama. Over and over again.

"...earth to Kate!"

Christian snapped me out of my daydream. "Sorry. What did you say?"

"Coffee?"

"Always."

"What do you wanna eat. I'm sure you are starving."

I walked into the kitchen to sit around counter next to him while he spoke. "McDonald's makes a good 'first meal I ate after eleven years of prison' don't you think?" I attempted at a joke.

"Sure," he said placing the cup of coffee in front of me.

I took it into my hands and stared at it making little twirls in the cup. It reminded me of my life. Going in circles that never seem to stop. I feel like I'm sixteen again. First day out of the mental institute in Indiana.

"Baby? What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Just thinking that's all."

Christian came around the counter to sit next me. "You are going to find the person who did this aren't you?"

"I have no other choice Christian."

Heyyy heyy. So it was an emotional chapter. It's a starter.
