Brewers...CaliforniaWendy.
Parker.
"What? That's absurd. It has to be someone else with a solid motive. What would hers be?"
He defended her at my accusation. Now I was about to find out why, if Parker grew the balls he lacked to tell me the whole story.
He was frozen on his spot as he stared back me. He seemed absolutely mortified at the fact that I just heard their conversation. Wendy on the other hand was pleased with herself. A sly smirk pulling at her lips as she watched the silent exchange between my lawyer and I.
Wendy.
Parker.
I crossed my arms over my chest waiting for an explanation from Parker. Anyone. But no such thing came. He moved to sit back down at his chair before he bowed his head into his hands. I watched intently as his shoulders sagged in defeat. Something big was going on. Something I sure would hate to hear but I had to. I had to know the truth.
"Parker darling. Don't you have something to say to Kate?" Wendy broke the awkward silence that had covered the small coffee shop with a mocking question.
He remained silent. Frozen in his position.
"What is going on Kate?" I heard Spencer speak from behind me. I almost jumped at the sudden words as I had completely forgotten he was here with me.
Wendy.
Parker.
I seemed to not be able to move past this as my brain struggled to make the connection. Even as I have just seen it before my eyes, the pair was impossible to be true. How had that happened?
"Come on Parker. You can do it. Just tell her. Go ahead and shed some light to this situation," Wendy mocked once again, enjoying this all too much.
"Parker's hand clenched to fists as he moved them to his side. He glared at Wendy in absolute rage. But that did nothing but fuel the complacency she felt at the moment. "Stay out of it you fucking bitch," he seethed.
I rolled my eyes at him and took a few steps closer to their table, closing the distance little by little. "No. She is right Parker. Tell me. Please," my tone was light and condescending.
He looked at me with a look of embarrassment and shame in his eyes. His eyes shut for a few seconds before letting them fly open again. That did nothing but turn my slowly evaporating patience into fully exploding rage. "Spit it out!" My fist made contact with the table. Causing him to jump. A snicker escaped Wendy's lips as she stood up.
"Well. You have my number Parker. Update me," she dared to say. Surprising even myself, I ignored her. Only focusing my attention on Parker.
"I'm so sorry Kate. I-I don't know why I did it," his voice was filled with emotion but I only became angrier by the second.
I felt Spencer's hand on my arm as he tried to yank me away from the gutted-looking Parker. "Come on. Let's just get out of here. Let it go, please."
"Not until he talks Spencer. He was having a very interesting conversation with a woman who fucking got me locked up for eleven years. Eleven fucking years. I will not let that slip Spencer. I won't." I yelled. I allowed the anger to rake through me. To take control. Shamefully so.
"I know it's upsetting. But you just have to let it slip. Let it go. Never allow the rage and angry emotions to take control of you."
"But. It's not that easy. I don't choose to let it posses me, doc. It just happens," I had told my therapist all those years ago.
