Violet

After the end of class I rushed home as quick as possible, still a little shaken from earlier on and the contents of my drawing.
Who was this man?
I made myself some pasta before collapsing on the sofa with the remote, and my phone to check my notifications.

3 missed calls -Dad
Though I decided against calling him back right now, I wanted to avoid his lecturing about how I was born to be a lawyer.

Hey it's Riley, I got your number from you records, hope you don't mind. Xx
-unknown number

I studied his message a few times, yeah it was slightly creepy that he'd gone after my phone number but at the same time I found it quite cute. I quickly saved his number and began typing a response.

Hey Riley, that's fine, as long as you're not a serial killer aha
-Violet
I cringed at my lame joke, but sent it anyway, purely because I couldn't think of anything else witty.

I switched the Tv on and began channel surfing again.. Was this all my life was going to be ? Channel surfing on repeat? Great. I hesitated when I reached the news channel, fearing the contents would scare the shit out of me again, but luckily the lady was just talking about some kitten that got stuck in a tree. I looked back down at my phone, in hope of a response, but I was disappointed to see an empty lock screen.

"Weather warnings have been put in place as a large thunderstorm is expected to hit at around 9pm" my stomach dropped at her voice.

I hated thunder storms.

They made me feel sick, just loud sounds and  bright, flashing lights made me want to crawl up in a corner. Add rain to that and the darkness of the night, it was not a pleasant thing for me. My worrying was interior we'd when my phone vibrated on my lap, the name Riley lighting up the screen.

"Hey" I spoke nervously through the speaker

"Hey Violet.. Are you busy?" Hope lined his voice and I almost laughed. If he only knew how not busy I was.

"Erm.. No not right now why?" My attempt to be smooth and calm failed when I stumbled on my words and my voice squeaked slightly.

"I was wondering if you would like to maybe order a pizza with me and we can.. You know talk about art" a smile grew on my face, his offer really excited me. Mostly because it mean I hadn't been acting like a complete dipshit all day, but partly because I was interested in this boy.

"Yeah sure.. You can come over if you want?" I offered, not desiring to be alone in this house anymore. He accepted and I gave him my address, still unsure of the spelling since I was new here.

Ten minutes later, there was a knock at my door. I stalked down the hall and to the large front door and opened it, to reveal Riley with his big blue eyes and a smile sat comfortably on his face.

"Hey Violet" he greeted me as I invited him inside, his attention immodestly turned to the size of my house.

"Wow talk about student accommodation" he laughed and shook his coat of his shoulders.

"My dad insisted" I tried to keep my response as quiet as I possible, I didn't want to come off as a spoilt daddy's girl to him. His opinion of me seemed to matter.
