Chapter One - Please don't leave me

One month after Mockingjay ends
Katniss POV

Tick tock. Tick tock. Oh will this clock shut up. Tick tock. Tick tock. That's it. I find one of the empty bottles of Vodka on the floor and chuck it at the clock, smashing it to pieces.

Suddenly there's a knock at the door "GO AWAY HAYMITCH" I shout.

"Um Katniss?" A familiar voice replies, no it can't be, he's in the Capitol, he was taken, he's gone, he's not coming back to me. Just like she's not.

So I ignore the door and try to make myself go back to sleep, but it's not long before the nightmares start, Rue, Cato, Cinna, Wiress, Finnick, Prim, Coin, Snow, Gale, Effie, Peeta, Mom, even Dad. Everyone's gone, no ones coming back I'm all alone, no one cares about the girl on fire anymore because I'm all burnt out.

I've excepted who I am. A badly burnt girl. With no wings. No fire and no sister. Just a stupid cat and my drunken old mentor, it's times like these my mind wonders to Peeta, has he moved on? Is he still in the Capitol? Has anyone told him about my current state? Does he still care about me? Does he know that I wear the pearl he gave me everyday, around my neck. That was a gift from Effie before I came back here, she took the pearl and got it made into a neckless to always remind me of my boy with the bread.

I'm taken out my thoughts by movements outside, I quickly go to my front window that looks out on my small garden. There I see him, blonde hair, leaning down planting something, it takes me a minute to figure out what he's planting. Roses. I'm about to run out and shout at him for being so stupid then I look again, not roses, Primroses.

I open my front door and stand there watching him, he realises this, stands and turns to face me. I can't help the smile that comes to my face, "Peeta" I whisper.

Peeta lets out a smile and I run and hug him, the familiar scent surrounding me, that's when I break down.

"I'm so sorry Katniss" he whispers to me, this just makes me hold him tighter.

"I've missed you so much" I cry to him, "Please don't leave me again"

"I won't Katniss, I promise"

I pull out the hug and look in his eyes, not believing he's really here, that's when I see her behind him. "Peeta come on!" She shouts, Peeta gives me a apologetic smile and goes to his front door and gives her a kiss on the lips.

I feel the tears fall again. Standing at Peeta's door is one person I wouldn't have expected. Delly Cartwright.
