Chapter Two - Anybody want to buy a heart?

The next day
Katniss POV

That's it I think to myself, he's moved on. But I can't blame him, he deserved much better than me everyone knew it, even me.

So here I am lying on my couch like normal with that stupid cat clawing at the door for food, ugh. I get up and weakly walk through to the kitchen, pour buttercup food then go back to my spot on the couch.

Whenever I'm on my own I overthink things, this time being no exception. It's there where I finally admit it. I love Peeta Mellark. I'm not sure when I started too, maybe I did all along and didn't notice it.

Now he's gone and I'm broken again. A small, small piece of me thought one day he would come back and tell me how much he loves me and missed me, something he told me often before all of this. I just didn't appreciate it.

I can't hate Delly, she was one of the people that brought Peeta back to his normal self in the first place, she was nice to me, stuck up for me.

I hear a voice shout through the door, "Katniss?" It shouts, not just any voice, Peeta's voice.

I get up and go over to the door, unlocking it and opening it, to find Peeta standing there, bread in one hand, water in the other. I nod for him to come in and he does.

"Peeta what are you doing here?" I ask him.

"Haymitch told me your not doing so well so I've came to cheer you up" he smiles.

"Well haymitch should mind his own business" I mumble and Peeta lets out a small laugh.

"Anyway," he starts, " it's been snowing a little up town, in the woods."

Just at the sound of the woods my facial expression brightens which makes Peeta smile.

"So i thought we could go up there and I don't know, maybe build a snowman?" He laughs at the end part, so I laugh too.

"A snowman?" I question, "I've never built a snowman before"

Peeta's eyes widen at this but then a smirk plays on his lips, "well come on I better show you then" He says. I then go upstairs and get changed, coming down about 10 minutes later to see him and Delly standing there. Oh no.

"Katniss!" Delly shouts as she runs to hug me.

"Hey Delly" I mumble, awkwardly.

"How are you? How have you been? How are you coping?" She asks all at once.

"I.. Um... I"

"Come on let's go!" Peeta says, he's always saving me.

I force a smile on my face and follow them out my door.

"And done!" Peeta shouts as we finish the snowman.

"Hmmmm it's missing one thing" I say.

Peeta frowns, I bend down and pick up a giant snowball and chuck it in his face, "That!" I shout and start laughing at how silly he looks.

"Oh it's on Katniss!" He shouts back, that's when I start to run but I'm not used to running in snow so I'm slower, Peeta seems to run faster, grabbing my waist and spinning me around in the air, "Peeta!" I laugh, "Put me down!"

He stops spinning me and looks me in my eyes, I look back in his and God have I missed those blue eyes, they've kept me up at night. I then realise Delly's standing just over there so I quickly laugh again and run back over to the snowman, where Delly now stands, smiling.

"Feeling better now, Katniss?" She asks me.

"Yeah much thank you both" I smile back.

I am feeling better but it's not thanks to both of them, although I'm grateful Delly brought Peeta back to 12 and she's fine about me seeing him. It's Peeta who makes me happy and makes me smile.

But I have to push those feelings down because as much as my heart is broken by this, I can't break Delly's. So I put on a fake laugh and start running around having a snowball fight with them both, trying to ignore the pain inside me.
