After Jack got home, he sat down at the dining room table, and began some English homework. When he was in the middle of it, his dad got home."Two heart transplants, and one kidney transplant!" His dad said as he walked through the door."Rough friggen day!" He continued. He and Jack talked about their days, and how they went. They were closer than most fathers and sons. Especially as they were the only family they had. Jacks mother had no brothers and sisters, and her parents died a long time ago. Jacks fathers parents both came down with lung cancer when Jack was two, and died when he was three, and he had a brother, but he died having a seizure while playing a Zelda game. Probably not best he played it, as he had epilepsie.
That night, Anna stopped over. She usually did when she finished her homework. As most couples would do, they made out in jacks room. After that, they decided to walk down the trail in the forest in jacks backyard. He was reluctant, though, because of the boy he saw earlier that day. But he didn't want to freak Anna out, so he kept it under his hat.
While walking, they always took time to notice the things around them. The birds that flew, the snow on the ground, how many deer they saw. It was nice. It was peaceful. For a short time. While they were walking twigs snapped from under their feet. It was natural in a forest. Three, normal pairs of feet, snapping twigs. Three? No, two, cause they were the only ones there. After a while, they were sure there were two pairs, as the third pair disapaited. But it started up again. Then it stopped agin, followed by the sound of sharp metal scraping against the side of a tree. It sounded like how the color silver looks. Cold, metallic, ready to pierce any object it comes across. It stopped them in their tracks. They looked around, scared and confused. But they were calmed down again when they saw a doe standing in the distance. It stated back at them. The look it gave them told them "it will be okay". The doe was a symbol of hope. Suddenly, a knife quickly darted from behind a tree, and into the does face, killing it instantly. Jack and Anna were mortified. A figure walked out from behind the tree. It was the boy. The hooded boy from the bus stop. But his time he wasn't hooded. He was looking right at them. He had no eye lids, black rings around his eyes, and black, stringy hair. Still looking at them, he yanked the knife out of the does head."Man, jacky, I can't tell ya' how long I've been waitin' for this!" The boy said. Jack was confused. How did the boy know who he was? Why did he have a death wish for him?"Hey man, we don't want any trouble! Let's just all back away!" Jack said. The boy laughed at that."Oh, but this isn't something I'm doing by choice, I was instructed to do this. However, I still wanted to do it anyway! But long story short, a friend of mine wants you dead. Well, I think "sacrificed" is a better word." The boy replied.
Jack didn't care what the boy had to say from this point on. He didn't want to get Anna or himself hurt. He squeezed her hand harder, and they both bolted back the way they came. The boy chased after them. They were pretty much screwed. He ran faster than anyone Jack or Anna had ever seen, and he seemed to not get out of breath easily. They would have been his next victims if something from in the bushes hadn't dived on top of him. Some small, pale looking thing. They didn't look back, and they kept running to his house.
The boy and the creature who had tackled him both got up."Aw, come on, Rakey, I had 'Im that time!" The boy yelled."Fool!" The creature said."don't you know what's going on!?" The boy looked confused."what? I thought the Operator gave us the go after we stalked him at the school." The boy said."No! The operator has been lying to us this whole time! This is not a normal, average sacrifice he would normally do. No, this is completely for his benefit. Some are taking his side to sacrifice him, and some aren't. He says he's stalked Jack since birth, and says there's something about him! He's going to sacrifice him for his own power!" The creature said."What the hell do ya' mean? What's so special about this kid?" Asked the boy."I don't know." The creature began."All I do know is we need to switch from trying to kill him, to trying to protect him. What ever he has, it could allow the Operator to do whatever he wants! And you've heard about the old days, when he had that power, Jeff. It wasn't good." For once, the boy, Jeff was his name, looked scared. He nodded, and they walked off.
