School was dull, boring and plain. Marinette walked home, her purse lightly bouncing against her hip. Her hand habitually placed on the strap that crossed her chest. Her school bag in her other hand, she entered the bakery. The bell chimed as she entered, drawing the attention of the few costumers who were in the small bakery. They regarded her with curiosity for a moment then decided she wasn't interesting, turning back to the counter and starting up their idle chatter.
"Ma ma, I'm home!" Marinette called out.
Her mother came bustling out from behind the counter to greet her daughter, "Hello sweetie," her mother chimed kissing her cheek, "how was school?"
"Good." Marinette replied without much thought, already pulling away from her mother, desperate to finish her schoolwork.
"I have to do my schoolwork ma ma," Marinette said as she pulled away and made her way toward the back of the bakery to their house.
"Okay, sweetie, tell me if you need anything!" She heard her mother call after her.
Marinette sighed as she opened her school bag and pulled out her homework, she was eager to finish so she might be able to see her partner later. Tikki hovered over her desktop, "Come on Marinette you'll be able to finish and see Chat in no time!" Her Kwami encouraged. With a sigh she started to work.Adrien awoke with a start, he peered out his window o see the sunset. The nice bright orange hues fading into a deeper magenta. His chest hurt and he felt weak, but with determination to see Ladybug, he rose to his feet.
"Come on Plagg," he sighed, prodding his Kwami.
"Alright I'm up I'm up," Plagg hissed grumpily.
Before the Kwami could gather himself Adrien called his name.
"Plagg! Claws out!" With that command Adrien was engulfed in a brilliant green light, he emerged as Chat Noir, no longer Adrien Agreste. Full of excitement, he repressed his pain, and hopped out the window, jumping along rooftops and windowsills to the meeting place where he would find Ladybug. She looked up, feeling content that her partner had resumed his place beside her. "Hello, Kitty." She mused.
"M'lady," he bowed, though something seemed a bit off, she could've sworn her cringed.
Suddenly remembering that she should be upset with him rather than happy she inquired,"Where were you yesterday, Chat? It was awfully tedious patrolling all alone."
He blinked his brilliant green eyes staring for a moment before replying with a lie, "Oh, um, something came up m'lady, I apologize I had to deprive you of my company." He smirked.
She rolled her eyes, "It was oh so painful," she replied sarcastically.
"Come on kitty lets get going."His everything hurt, his sides, his head, his chest, his legs, his nose, just everything. He did it all to see her though, to see her brilliant blue eyes and that beautiful smile she graced him with. He was trying his hardest to not seem sick while they raced along the rooftops and streets of Paris. He glanced at her, to see her staring at him, her eyes weren't full of the smile she wore on her face. No, her eyes held something else, concern, worry? Something he just couldn't figure it out. They finished up their patrol on the Eiffel Tower, gazing out upon the grand city they had the pleasure of calling home.
She cleared her throat "Chat?"
"Hmm?" He responded, trying not to dose off and plummet to the ground.
"I am busy this weekend but I need you to do me a favor," she twirled her yoyo.
"How may I be of service m'lady?" He questioned bowing.
"I need you to watch over someone this weekend from Friday to Sunday night."
He cocked his head, "Who?"
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
"Oh?" He inquired, "Why ever do you need me to do so?" He forced a smile, to hide the pain he was in.
"I just need you to," she sighed, clearly annoyed, "can you do that kitty?"she softened up.
"Of course m'lady, anything you wish," he bowed and pecked a kiss on her hand just as he heard a beeping noise, "I'm afraid we must part ways m'lady, until next time, my love bug." He winked then disappeared."Marinette," Tikki inquired, "why are you having Chat come over all weekend?"
"Well, he is very sick looking, and it seems he hasn't really been taken care of. Besides my parents are gone until early Monday morning, they leave tonight." She shrugged.
Tikki looked up at the teenager, "Don't you think it's a bit o a risk having him here?"
"Nonsense, Tikki," Marinette laughed, "I'll be fine."
"Oh boy," Tikki sighed, "I hope your right."
Marinette absentmindedly replied as she gazed out her window, "Of course I am..." Her mind wandered back to Chat, and concern gripped her heart. It's slimy tentacles hugging tight and latching onto her body.
"Please be careful..." She breathed.
