(Later the same day) NOVEMBER 9th

I stared at Clara, wondering if she was faking it or if she was really an idiot. Well the latter was already known, but seriously? You beat up a girl over a guy then you suddenly "forget" who the guy is? Does she have memory loss or something?

"Um, Dylan?? Hot emo-ish guy?" I said matter-of-factly. She growled, "Shut up squirt! I don't know who the heck you're talking about." She clenched her fists, ready to punch me. I shook my head, trying to clear my foggy mind. If......Clara didn't know who Dylan was...Then did Dylan even exist? Of course he existed!! Right? I turned around and broke into a run to find him.

As I sprinted in the halls I ran into someone and made them trip. I heard them yell "EH!" and I shouted back, "SORRY!" I kept running even when the Principal screamed, "STOP. I DEMAND YOU TO STOP." I just cracked up in response. I burst through the front doors and jogged down the steps. The sun beat down on my face as I dashed through the school yard.

Pierce and his stupid friends blocked my path and spit on me, "You ruined my life." Pierce snarled. He literally had a snarl on his face. I laughed,"You ruined your own life. You realize I am your own flesh and blood, and yet you always seem to hate your own family. Pierce, let it go." He backed up surprised. I was usually a helpless little girl who didn't dare talk back.

I gave them each a small smile and bolted past them. "Should we follow her?" Pierce's friend Matthew asked. Pierce shook his head, pondering over the things I said.

It felt as if I was running a 400 yard dash. If I was, I would've probably won by now. I shot past trees and dogs and men mowing their lawns. I came to a halt when I saw a heartbreaking scene.

A young girl was crying her eyes out and clinging on to a boy in a uniform. He was obviously leaving to go into the army.

"Please don't go!" She cried out. The boy stood up straight and tall, trying not to cry. She threw her arms around him and sobbed. The boy hunched his shoulders and grabbed the girl into a bone crushing hug. He started to tear up as buried his face in her hair. He backed up and put her face in his hands. "I promise I will come back for you." He said. He kissed her on the nose and walked down the long cement driveway. The girl weeped as she yelled goodbye. He started to get into a car parked by the curb, when he noticed me. I stood up straight and saluted.

His face broke into a grin and looked back up at his small wife. He blew a kiss to her and disappeared into the vehicle which spun to life and shot off. The wife gave a loud sob and ran into the house. On any other day I wouldn't of seen this scene but I had on new lens today.

Across the street I saw an old man and an old woman sitting on their porch in rocking chairs. They were holding hands while rocking back and forth admiring the beautiful day. I looked back to the first house and realized a very important lesson.

True love doesn't dissolve with age.

I beamed at the thought of it and strolled down the street, wondering where the heck Dylan was. Where could one boy hide for so long? To tell you the truth...Why did he come in the middle of the semester? Wasn't that a little strange? Usually you start in the beginning. But coming in the middle, and leaving in the middle?

Too many questions and no answers. I stopped at the front of my house and skipped up the steps. I turned the handle of the door and yanked it open. "I'm hooome!" I called out. Akila made a grand entrance into the hallway. Also known as tripping over her own feet and crashing into the wall. I giggled, "Are you okay?"

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I GOT A CALL FROM THE PRI-" She roared. "Learning lessons." I interrupted. I waltzed into the living room and plopped down on one of the leather couches. I sighed with joy. "Oh, really? What kind of lessons?" She  irritably snapped. "Lessons of love." I stated.

"Love?" She asked, her expression softened a bit. I put my elbow on my knee and my chin on my hand. "Yes. Wanna hear about it?" I inquired. She nodded and politely had a seat. "Did you know that true love doesn't end with age?" I questioned.

At that exact moment my uncle Harry knocked the door down and yelled, "I'm home!" Akila jumped and stared at him. She looked back at me and then at Harry, then back at me. Harry noticed she was startled, "You okay Akila?

"Oh. Quite."

He awkwardly nodded and threw his bookcase down on the ground. He loosened his tie and ruffled his hair. Through my new lens I saw something I hadn't even noticed before.

Harry and Akila didn't speak much as a couple. They spoke, yes, but they didn't have a real deep conversation.  They never had time. Between having Darcy away at a private school, a bully for a son and a depressed niece, they never found time to be alone.

With me being me I decided to change that. "I'm going to go out and you guys can have the house to yourselves!" Before either could object I jumped up and shot past a surprised Harry into the sunshine. Akila ran onto the porch just as soon as I got to the sidewalk. "Where are you going?" She called out. "To find Dylan!" I yelled back.

"Who?" She gave me a weird look.

"Dylan? Remember? I told you about him on Friday night?" I said, not believing that she would forget him. "Darling, on Friday night you didn't mention a boy." She responded. "But if there is one you want to tell us about

At that moment I zoned out.

No one knew who Dylan was.....

Except me

Who is he?
