Novemeber 15, Sunday
We walked into Church and sat down on one of the front pews. I've always been one of those shunned girls. I wear black and all the girls here wear happy-go-lucky neon colors. The girls here don't even care about God, they only care about flirting with all the boys. I sat my bum on the cold hard wood and crossed my arms while putting my feet up on the pew in front of me. Odus plopped down next to me.
A couple of the popular girly-girls drew to Odus like a magnet. Hot guy? They were the first to talk to him. Of course Jessica was the first one there.
"Hey!" She fluttered her eyelids. "Yo!" He replied. He looked over at me giving off a "EWWW" look. May I just say that I have the best relative ever? "So," She giggled. "do you have a girlfriend?" Odus scrunched his nose in reply, "No, and I'm not looking for one either."
But....wasn't she with Luke? "Where's Luke?" I asked. She gracefully sat down next to Odus trying to act beautiful. Give me a break. "I don't care." She replied. "I thought y'all were together." I stated.
"I broke up with him." she said offhandely, "And I'm glad." Jessica ruffled Odus' hair. Odus quickly flattened it back. He yawned, stretched his arms, and put his arm around me. I knew he was trying to get rid of her. I looked Jessica in the eyes. Oh, if looks could kill.... "Why are you glad?"
"Because he was a loser." Came the reply. Her jealous friends were sitting on the pew in front of us, nodding their head in agreement. I tried as hard as I could to control my temper.
Luke might've embarrassed me in front of everyone in school, but he wasn't a loser. An idiot maybe, but not a loser.
"Then why did you date him?" I scoffed. Jessica rolled her eyes, "For popularity. Duhh!" She winked at Odus. He let out a "Ummmm.... Right." He leaned over and whispered in my ear, "She seems like a buttface."
I actually burst out laughing, "I love you Odus!" He kissed my head and grinned slyly at Jessica. It was working. She looked like she was about to cry. "I hate you Horan! You always steal my men!" She hissed. She stomped off and didn't even notice that some of her hair was wavy in the back, even though the rest was straight.
That made us laugh even harder. I know it was mean but once we started we couldn 't stop. We heard a voice say "Um, hi. I'm new here." We turned to see a tall girl with light brown hair standing behind us. She had shocking dark brown eyes. Odus immediately stood up straighter and stuttered, "Uh, Hey. I-I'm Odus."
"I'm Sarah." the mysterious girl replied.
I looked from Sarah to Odus, then back again to Sarah. They were staring into each other's eyes.
"I'm Avianna and I think I'm going to leave you two love-birds alone." I laughed. Odus playfully smacked my head and I jumped off the pew. I giggled as I ran down the aisle to where my aunt was talking to Mr. Henson.
Ew. Mr. Henson. Ewww! He is a 95 year old man who hits on girls from age 1 day to 100 years. Akila seemed rather uncomfortable, but Harry was next to her with his arm around her. I smiled happily at them. They were so perfect.
But that's when I realized something. Everywhere I turned there were people in twos. Boy and girl. Boy and girl.
Even the pastor was talking to his wife. Couples were everywhere. And I was by myself.
Dylan appeared next to me. Who knew where he came from.
"Why am I so alone?" I whispered to him.
"He'll come." He promised.
"But when?"
