It has been seven days of sitting here doing nothing. It has been long and tiring but we don't dare leave this spot unless we have to, for ours and Elie's families' sake. Josiane would come every day around dinner time and update us on what is happing. We try to keep Didi from knowing what is happing and every time we talk about it we tell her that we are discussing on what we are going to get her for her birthday.

Today Josiane told us that we had run out of food and that they were trying everything to get something for us to eat, but that we should be expecting to be given a lot smaller portions. Josiane said that they are planting seeds in the backyard and for us to pray that they will grow fast. She also told us that things were getting way worse. That they actually started to bulldoze dead bodies out of the city. I started to shake. How could people do this? Do they have any humanity? Josiane left us and Didi got up to use the bathroom. I crawled over to Daniel and laid my head on him. He wrapped his strong arms around me and I silently drowned his shirt in with my tears. Never in a million years would I have thought this could happen to us.
