Oh look, another update earlier than expected. ;)
Chapter 2: Momma knows best
Cheyenne's POV
2:30 pm
It had been a long day at school. My backpack was loaded with homework I knew would never get done thanks to my siblings. I started the long walk home.
A bright red convertible pulled up in front of me. The windows rolled down to reveal Sebastian Cole. I looked at him warily.
"Can I help you?" The words came out harsher than I intended.
"Need a ride?"
My face must have registered shock because he chuckled.
"I know we don't know each other but I see you walking home sometimes. You live far right?"
"So now you stalk me?" I folded my arms across my chest.
"Who wouldn't stalk a pretty girl like you?" He smiled but I was still suspicious. Sebastian hung with the popular crowd, why would he offer a ride to a lowly peasant like me? Was it a trick?
I glanced around the parking lot. Alexis, one of Krystal Parker's best friends was glaring at me and furiously typing on her phone, no doubt informing her Queen.
"Thanks but I'll walk," I turned away but he trailed me in his car.
"You know you want a ride," He teased me. But my dirty mind took it the wrong way.
"I'm not gonna be one of your lays so fuck off!" He looked taken aback. "What, made a bet with one of your friends to score the poor girl?"
"Look I'm just tying to be nice. I swear I won't try anything," I squinted at him. His face looked sincere, even apologetic.
I swung open the car door. "Fine but if you even look at me the wrong way I'll make sure you can't have any kids."
"Noted."
We drove in silence for a while.
"So it's Cheyenne right?"
"Don't talk," I snapped. "Just drive."
"Woah, who pissed in your breakfast this morning?"
"Pull over right now," I demanded. Every second I spent with him irritated my soul more. Why did I get in the car? This was definitely some sort of prank.
"Alright I'll shut up. I can take a hint."
"Just turn right here," We pulled up to my run down apartment buildings.
"You live here?" he peered out the car windows.
"Yeah. Got a problem?" I raised a brow at him.
"It's just..."
"Goodbye. Thanks for the ride," I slammed the car door and went inside before he could pass judgment on me.
"Daniel!" I called out entering the house. I found him and Ava in his bedroom. Ava was crying and so was Daniel, snot running down his face. It was disgusting.
"Where's mom?" I asked, setting my stuff down.
"She left!" He blubbered.
"What do you mean she left?" A sinking feeling developed in my stomach. "What happened! What did you do!?"
He cried harder when I yelled. I ran into the kitchen and saw a pile of mail laying on the table ripped open. Bill after bill after bill. Oh God. I knew we were late on rent and stuff but I didn't know it was this bad.
