Justice was going to headquarters. She was nervous. Palm sweating, heart thumping against the chest nervous. She hadn't seen Angel for months, not since the fight he and Demetri had gotten into. She wasn't expecting him to embrace her and tell her he missed her, but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't hoping for a hostility free zone. She'd hurt him and ever since that day, she'd felt stupid and guilty. Angel was only trying to look out for her and even though he kept some pretty important stuff from her she knew he only had good intentions behind his actions.
She groaned and leaned her head against the car window. How the hell was she supposed to break this to him?
Ha, funny story. Remember that family you warned me of? I'm getting hitched to one of them!
She groaned again and banged her head into the window several times wishing she didn't have to go through with it.
"You okay little bee?" She looked up at Emilio in the mirror who was looking at her worriedly through the rearview.
She nodded and smiled at him. Emilio had taken to calling her little bee after Demetri had let him join in on their training sessions. He'd been her sparring partner one day and said even though she was little, the blows from her punches stung; hence, little bee.
She liked Emilio. He'd insisted on driving her to headquarters even though it was pretty much like driving into enemy territory for him. He even offered to wait for her until she was done. The aura he gave off compared to Demetri was completely opposite, which gave Justice hope. They shared the same blood and yet Emilio was like a giant teddy bear to her. If he was so warm and friendly, what's to say Demetri's other family members couldn't be the same?
Even Ava liked Emilio and she'd made it clear she practically despised the royal family. It was Justice's understand that Ava had been forced to work for them against her will, but whenever she tried to question her about it, she closed off and changed the subject. She'd grown close to Ava as the months passed though. She made up for the fact that Justice hadn't been allowed to see Vanessa, Michelle or Max for months on end, Ava was her friend.
They'd butted heads over the way Ava should address her, but it was a small hurdle they got over in no time. It hadn't been as easy with the rest of Demetri's staff though. Ava had personally introduced her to everyone and Justice just couldn't wrap her head around why they insisted on treating her like she was royalty. She wasn't even married yet! She'd managed to break most of them out of it but there was one boy who insisted on bowing to her every time Justice so much as passed him in the hallway.
Joaquin was one of Demetri's servants: a slender, olive skinned boy with the most luscious dark hair that Justice had ever seen. He was handsome enough that she had to blink herself out of staring when she'd first met him. He looked like something fresh out of a magazine. Or, one of those ridiuclously good looking Instagram models.
The problem was his personality. He was... well, a dick.
He had a stick up his ass because whenever Demetri needed something doing, Joaquin was the first one he'd call. Ava said that he thought of himself very highly, therefore all the rest of the servants were 'beneath' him. If that wasn't enough to annoy Justice, the fact that he refused to call her anything other than 'your highness' definitely had him on her shit list.
He wasn't all bad though. He had his moments where he proved to be entertaining and lately he'd been hanging around them a lot more often which meant constant bickering between him and Ava: Justice found it hilarious. She'd gotten used to their company pretty quickly which was the only thing that was giving her any sense of comfort about this whole arranged marriage situation.
