Justice felt the lump slide down her throat as she swallowed.
Fuck. What the hell was he doing here?
Luc pushed his way into the room. His stature seemed to make the room considerably smaller and looking up at him, she herself felt tiny.
"I'm- "
"It really isn't what you think it is." Demetri cut in for her.
"No?" Luc looked between the two of them. "Then why are the two of you having secret meetings in her bedroom?"
Rolling his eyes, Demetri folded his arms, clearly bored of the conversation already.
"We were having a discussion."
"About?"
"That's not your business."
Justice caught the little smirk that passed Demetri's lips and wondered why he was welcoming blood spill on her plush carpets. Was he mentally okay?
"Stop it." She chimed in. "Demetri, you go. I'll see you later as planned."
He could only nod curtly at her before brushing past his brother, closing the door behind him.
The two of them stood staring at one another for a moment.
The air was thick with unsaid words and pent up anger and frustration, Justice wondered if this would end in an argument.
"Later as planned?" His voice was quiet, but he was definitely pissed. "Are you trying to upset me?"
"There's nothing going on with me and your bro-"
"I know what you're doing," He cut in. "I know where you're going. What I don't know is why you have Demetri helping you, and why you just assumed that I would allow you to go."
Her eyebrows raised. "Allow me?"
"I told you before," His jaw throbbed. "I don't like to be disrespected."
"Me wanting to find out more about my heritage is no disrespect to you."
"Hiding it is."
He'd beat her there.
Of course she didn't want to hide it from him, but there was no way of gauging this guy's reactions. It was no secret that he was unstable.
Looking down at her feet, she sighed. "Fair enough. I was wrong for that. But-"
"And what about the boy?"
She quickly glanced up at him.
"What boy?"
Luc sniggered. "Playing dumb with me is really not in your best interests right now..."
"If you're talking about Angel..."
Luc scoffed. "Angel? What kind of name is that for a man?"
Not super excited about his tone, Justice tried to calm herself.
"What about him?" She said through gritted teeth.
Seeing how quickly she was getting annoyed, somewhat cooled Luc down. She did this thing where her nose twitch cutely in her irritation, and it had him wanting to smile. Almost.
He tried to choose his next words carefully. He wanted to keep his cool and act as if he was unbothered but truthfully the whole situation had knocked him for six.
He didn't want her to go.
As soon as Marcella had spoken the words, a dozen scenarios had popped into his head. Each one more terrifying than the last one.
