Justice wasn't expecting it to be so fast. As soon as they stepped through the portal she felt herself whirling at a speed she wouldn't even be able to describe. She so desperately wanted Demetri to let go of her so that she could hold her head to stop it from spinning off her neck.
The spinning sensation only lasted a few seconds but to her it felt like she'd been on a ride for hours and she'd never get off.
Once they hit solid ground she wanted to stop for fear that she might chuck up her insides but Demetri was having none of it. His hand was still wrapped around her wrist in a vice like grip, and she knew there was no way he was letting go.
The first thing to hit her was the icy breeze. And not the type of chilling breezes that braced the winter nights back home. no, this was the type of raw Arctic breeze that would freeze you on the spot if you stood still for too long. It was a good thing Demetri had a hold on her because he was the only thing that was keeping her moving at this point.
For the first 10 seconds it was silent as he guided her through the darkness. Nothing but silence and stillness. Until she swore she felt something brush against her leg.
"Demetri, what was-" She started but he immediately whipped around slamming his hand over her mouth.
Shit. I wasn't supposed to talk...
Demetri stopped them in their tracks and Justice knew she'd messed up. Those thoughts were confirmed when she felt more beings brushing past her. Each one left a cold flurry of air besides her as they did and each time they did she felt more and more uneasy.
Demetri tightened his grip on her and he quickened his pace, moving with an urgency she'd never seen before.
The more he dragged her along, the more agitated these beings seemed to get. They were simply brushing past her before, now it was almost as if they were trying to grab at her.
She wanted to scream out, and she probably would have if she hadn't been silenced by her fear.Out of nowhere she felt something wrap itself around her neck and drag her back. At the same time, she felt as if her legs were being tied down by anchors willing her to stop moving.
Her breath got heavier and she could feel something wrapped around her midriff almost squeezing the life out of her.She felt Demetri try to haul her forward but it was if there were too many of them on her. When she felt him let go of her wrist, real panic set in.
She couldn't see anything. She could only feel. She felt her blood running cold, felt weak as the grip around her neck got tighter and tighter. She could feel them all over her and felt the fight leaving her body...
Seconds later she heard an ear piercing squeal. She wasn't sure where it came from, at this point she felt too frail to even be able make a sound like that.
Bodies were moving frantically around her, and one scream turned into two, two turned into several and soon all she could hear was screaming. The sound consumed her so much that it took a while for her to realise the pressure around her neck had eased off. The weight holding her legs down had lifted and so had the hold around her midriff. The aura surrounding her had warmed considerably, still cold but not as if she could freeze to death. That aura engulfed her and soon after her feet had lifted off the ground.
Demetri was carrying her.
She felt him pulling her into him and yanking her up, carrying her as he ran. The last thing she remembered was feeling a sense of relief as she meekly draped her around around his neck. After that, she blacked out.
