1995
Cas woke up that morning, Deans legs were sprawled across his body. It had been three weeks since his mother had died. Cas was still heartbroken. Dean always tried to cheer Cas up. Tell him there are reasons to keep going. Cas sat up in bed. Dean followed. He smiled at Cas and kissed his lips.
"Hey babe, did you sleep okay?"
"Yes. Once the nightmares went away, I was just fine."
Cas frowned remembering.
"Today's the funeral."
"Oh yeah, we should start getting ready Cas."
They both got up and started the shower. Cas hopped in the shower first. The warm water hit him. It felt nice. He heard the door open and Dean walked in. The water started and Dean started brushing his teeth. He said in a muffled voice
"So Cas, have you decided what you wanted to do with the house?"
"Uh, not really. It might be cheaper to sell it and get an apartment though."
Dean nodded and continued brushing. Cas turned off the water and grabbed a towel. Dean turned around to face Cas.
"I love you, Cas."
"I know"
Dean laughed and pulled Cas closer, kissing his lips. Getting dressed was easy, they had bought their suits a week before, making sure they were the right sizes and they were nice looking. Cas had also purchased a blue bow tie to go with his suit. His mother always loved blue. It reminded her of the ocean and the waves crashing down on the bank. The snow had lightened up and the funeral day was actually pleasant. It wasn't cold, it wasn't hot, the way Jody Novak always loved it. Both of them were ready. Upstairs, Cas grabbed the car keys and headed out the door with Dean. Cas volunteered to drive. Dean wrapped his arm around Cas' shoulder and kissed him on the cheek.
"Don't be nervous baby, its going to be okay."
Cas nodded
"I hope I don't have some sort of mental break down or something though, my entire family is going to be there. So many cousins and aunts and uncles."
Dean laughed
"Yeah, what are you gonna tell them about me?"
"Oh yeah, I haven't thought of that. I don't know, what do you think?"
Dean thought
"You know what? Just tell them I'm your boyfriend, and if they have a problem, tell them to take it up with me."
Dean smiled and winked. Cas laughed and kissed his cheek. After about thirty minutes, they arrived at the "Red Dreary" cemetery. All of Cas' family was buried there. It's like a weird family thing. Oh God, Cas' hands started frantically sweating when they pulled into the parking lot. It was like a huge family reunion. Everyone was there. Dean took Cas' hand and squeezed reassuringly.
"Baby, its alright, everything's gonna be alright."
Cas smiled and they got out of the car.
Dean took Cas' hand as they walked up to the crowd of people. Old ladies stared at them and some scowled. Dean didn't care. A woman wearing a leopard print jacket and a skin tight knee length skirt walked up to them.
"Excuse me, this a family exclusive funeral, so if you're not family of Ms. Jody Novak, we ask you to kindly leave."
Cas spoke up
"Oh, I'm Castiel Novak, Jody's son. This is my boyfriend."
The lady sneered and walked off.
"Wow, her skirt must be too tight today."
Cas laughed and they reached the spot where his mom was buried. There was a stone and it was carved with
Jody Novak
Mother of One
"Keep your head
The clouds and
Dream on......"

All Cas could think about was how beautiful it was. That's what his mother would have wanted. People started circling up around the stone. The ceremony was starting. First it was Cas' grandmother. She gave a speech and teared up like everyone else. Then it was Cas' sisters turn. She started all out crying. At the end, it was Cas' turn to speak. Dean squeezed his hand and kissed Cas' cheek.
"You got it babe."
Cas walked up behind his mother's grave. His hands were sweating and he was breathing heavily, it was all he could from not collapsing and crying right then. Cas pulled an index card out from his pants pocket. He looked down and cleared his throat.
"Uh Hi, I'm Cas, Jody's son. I just wanted to say that-"
He looked down at his card again
"That my mom, was the most amazing mother anyone could wish for. When my dad left us, she stayed, she didn't cower and run away too. My mom stayed and loved me and took care of me no matter what. I know, it was hard, it was extremley hard for her, paying for the house and for food and for me, that's why I would never ask for another mom. I love her so damn much and I miss her like crazy. Not a day goes by without me thinking of her."
He looked up and said quietly.
"Thank you mom, I love you."
After that Cas walked back to stand next to Dean. He started to cry. Dean pulled Cas close to his body and held him tight. People started leaving and staying and talking or eating from the lunch bar. Some came up and talked to Cas. After Cas payed his respects and said good bye to everyone, they left.
"How about lunch?"
Cas nodded
"That would be great Dean."
Dean drove and planted his hand on Cas' knee.
"Your speech was great. I'm proud of you."
Cas smiled at Dean.
"Thanks, I can't believe I didn't collapse or drop to the ground sobbing."
They both laughed.
Dean took a sharp turn into a steakhouse. It was Cas' favorite restaurant. They walked hand in hand. The lady standing behind the podium thing smiled.
"Hello, welcome to Corey's Steak House!! Table for two?"
Dean nodded.
"Sounds cool guys, follow me!"
They followed the lady into the seating room.
"Booth or table?"
"Uh, booth please?"
"Will do sir!! Here it is! I hope you enjoy your meal!"
"Thank you mam."
She nodded and walked off. Cas smiled.
"Thanks for taking me here!! You know its my favorite."
"Oh babe, don't mention it! Anything for you!"
"What would you like to eat?"
"The usual, what about you?"
"Uh-"
Dean was interrupted by a waiter.
"Hey guys,I'm Tony, what can I get to drink for you?"
Dean spoke first
"I'll take a Budweiser."
"And I'll have a root beer."
"Ok, that will be right up."
He walked away.
"Really Cas? Root beer?"
Cas chuckled
"Yes really. You got a problem?"
Dean laughed
"Uh, no........."
They both laughed.
"You know I love you right?"
Cas nodded
"Of course you do. I love you too."
Tony came back to the table with their drinks.
"Are you guys ready to order?"
Cas nodded
"Yeah, can you get me a burger with a side of fries?"
Tony scribbled on his pad
"And I want a number five with a side of fries."
Tony nodded.
"Is that all?"
"Yes."
He picked up the menus and walked away.
"I'm tired"
Cas yawned.
"Me too, we woke up pretty early"
"I just realised I graduate this year, we both do!"
"Oh yeah, we do!!!"
Dean reached across the table and kissed Cas. The room was dark and there were TV's lining the ceiling.
About 20 minutes later, Tony came out with two plates of food.
"Here you guys go, enjoy your food. If you need anything, just ask!"Dean and Cas started eating.
"Still good."
"Yeah, they never disappoint. How's that root beer my manly man?"
Cas scowled at Dean
"It's just fine."
Dean smirked and continued eating. They finished and left money on the table and drove off.
"Thanks for the food baby."
"Anytime Cas!"
They climbed into the car and drove back to the house. Dean turned on the radio and pumped it all the way up. Cas smiled and laughed. He was in love with Dean Winchester and nobody could tell him different.
