The music seems to be getting louder by the second, pounding through my veins. I feel bodies moving, dancing all around me.

Liam pulls back out of the long kiss slowly and leans his forehead onto mine. We sway to the beat of the music.

"I wonder if Scott's here yet," I say, looking down.

"I hope not," Liam replies with a small smile.

"Me too. He would kill me if he saw this." I roll my eyes and sigh.

Liam smiles and leans in, brushing away the hair on my shoulder. He touches his soft lips against the skin near my ear. My nerves start to buzz. He backs away but grabs my hands. "We should go check on Mason."

I secretly don't want to, but I follow Liam anyways. The music seems to be louder now that I'm not pressed against another body. I feel cold.

We make our way back to our spot and thankfully Mason is still there. He's talking to some blonde guy. He sees us and waves.

"Hey," Liam greets him, sitting down on the top of the picnic table. I do the same next to him.

"Hey." Mason answers, nodding at us. He raises his eyebrows and smirks."I saw you two over there."

My face instantly goes red. Liam looks over at me and smiles. I hide my face in my hands. Mason reaches over and taps my arm, adding, "Nah, it was cute."

I look at him and back at Liam. Liam picks up the strange paper bag bottle next to him and takes a swig. I glance around, hoping Scott hasn't found us yet.

Liam turns to me, holding the bottle out. "You want some?"

I nod and grab it from him, happy from the attention. It feels like fire in my chest but doesn't taste as bad as it did before. I take another sip and hand it back to Liam.

He turns it upside down and nearly empties it. I raise my eyebrow at him and he winks. Mason shakes his head at me and rolls his eyes.

Liam turns to Mason. "You're not gonna tell me  to slow down?"

"Actually I was gonna tell you to keep drinking." Mason says, raising his voice to be heard above the music. "I think you should get drunk. I mean stumbling around, falling on your ass, passed out, face in the toilet drunk."

Liam glances at me and laughs. "Why?"

"Because maybe when I ask you what's going on, you'll be too drunk to lie."

Liam and I both look down.

Mason continues. "I'm not asking because I want to know. I'm asking because I want to help."

I pretend to be very interested in my hoodie pockets. Liam turns his head the other way and doesn't respond to Mason.

"I'm gonna go get another drink." Liam pipes up, stepping off the picnic table and grabbing my hand. "Come on Jessica." He turns back to Mason. "And yeah, I'm getting drunk."

He throws the soda bottle on the ground. Mason raises an eyebrow at me as Liam pulls me away.

Instead of going into the mass of people, Liam leads me around them and to a group of people I don't know. Some of them are wearing lacrosse jerseys. They look like seniors.
