I woke up in my bed from the sun hitting my face, I was still in my black dress. I don't remember coming home and I dont remember drinking. Someone started knocking on my door.
"Huh" I mumbled
Angelo came in with breakfast
"Hey how you feeling?"
"I'm fine, how did I get in here ?"
"Derek carried you"
"Did he spend the night"
"No ? Why would he ? He just dropped you off and left."
"oookay"
"Here your breakfast" he sat on the bed
"I saw you dancing with Him last night" he said
"So ?"
"So ? I saw him kiss you, He's too old for you."
"A, its too early for this right now, I don't care if you don't approve of what's never gonaa happen, but you must not want me happy then. You know I'm Mature and can handle my self."
He walked out mad. I layed down eating the rest of my food. Then changed into a wife beater, some Sweat pant and brushed my teeth.
I knew the house now, at least the parts I needed.
I walked to the livingroom, a quite place to read so I sat down and read
I didn't even get off the first page when a tall dark shadow hovering over me
They were blocking my light
"Can I help y..." I said putting my book down
It was Derek. Does this kid have his own house
Just the sight of him gave me butterflies
"What you reading" He had a deep voice.
" Nothing.. Look about last night.."
"I already know what your going to say and its alright"
"What you mean
He sat in front of me and moved the hair out of my face. I spend all night thinking
"Look Rosie your a beautiful girl, I don't care if your Angelo's little sister. I see something in you. I only had two glasses of Scotch last night so I was pretty sober. We can work something out. Ill tell Big O' how I feel."
He touched my cheek.
I was so lost. What happened last night
"Derek what happened last night ?"
"Nothing we just danced the whole night. "
"Was I drinking ?"
"You just had thing huge drink with the neck chains, they gave out at the front door. You wouldnt let anyone touch or take it"
"But they said it was Ice Tea "
"Yeah, Long Island Ice Tea."
"Exactly I didn't drink anything else, so how come I can't remember anything"
"Rose, you were drinking way more than me. Long Island Ice Tea have Vodka, Gin, White Rum, white tequila and Triple Sec. You were Drunk"
I was shocked my his words.
"Was I a sloppy drunk ?"
"Nah you kept it classy."
I laughed." Good"
"Ima leave you to that book."
Later on that day I headed to the kitchen for dinner. FINALLY.
I over heard Derek and Angelo having a conversation setting up the dinner table.
Derek: Your sister is something else man
A: Yeah I know
Derek: How long she staying
A: For the summer, until school starts again
Derek: School?
A: Yeah she finishing up High school why?
Derek : How old is she man?
A: What? Why
Derek: Your sister hold old is she man
A: She's 17
The room got silent.
I waiting for about 10mins and tried to sneek away. But Angelo called my name to come to dinner.
I sat down at the table and ate.
It was awkward. And silent
Angelo got up to put his plate in the sink
"What ain't you tell me you were 17 !!"
"why does it matter ?"
(We were whispering)
"Why does it matter?? It matters because your a kid and illegal I just turned 20 the other day !"
"Age is just a number !! And I ain't no damn kid."
Angelo came back
"Angelo where's Aubrey ?" I asked
"Oohh she went off to her mothers house for a while
The rest of the night was SILENT !
