Today everybody was gossiping about the lottery draw that was happening later that evening. Apparently it was the biggest that had ever been, a huge £64,000,000. About everybody I knew had a ticket, even Georgia but Dad said that there was no point in getting a ticket because so many people were going for it.
Personally I don't see the point in the lottery. They get a massive amount of money, and give it to a random person - no matter if they're poor or rich - when they could easily give it to charity and spend it in a worthwhile cause. It's stupid that people expect us to donate all the time to all the different charities yet they're more than happy to give out a few million to random people.
Anyway, it was just a normal day today, apart from all the buzz about the lottery draw. A new girl joined the school last week and she is in my form. She is called Lily and she invited me to a sleepover with Georgia and a few other people in half term. She seem really nice, quiet and genuine ; hopefully she will make a friend soon.
I should probably tell you about my class a bit more as I might mention some of them a bit. There are thirty two of us, all girls and in my year there are four forms: Beal (the best house!!), Jackson, Robertson and Wilkinson. Most of the people in my class are a bit annoying and the others can be nice but are all really need and quiet so I only really fit in with the people like Georgia. I know some of the people in the other forms from my dance school and various lunchtime clubs and I can't really hang around with them as they all have their own friendships and we don't really get the chance to be with the other classes until year 9.My favourite subject at school is definitely food technology. I think it's the only subject that I can beat Georgia in and the teacher really likes me because I make cupcakes and cookies for my younger sister. I just love the idea of being able to cook different meals when I'm older to support my family. I also wish there was a lesson in interior design because I'm really interested in decorating rooms and making everything go together. I think that's what I want to be when I grow up. It's a shame that the only lessons that I would actually be good at either don't exist or people think that they are just for fun.
I got home this evening and I literally just collapsed on my bed - that'd how tired I was. After my autumn grade sheet my parents have asked me to be more focused in class and write down everything that the teachers say. Believe me when I say that its really tiring. I had a ton of homework to do that evening though because I do dance most days of the week so I stack up all of my homework onto Wednesday - my only free day - and do it all in one go. Before I started my maths, I checked my phone and there was nothing on Instagram but a picture of a really cute cat (it belongs to lily, the new girl) which I liked and then I got started. To be honest I couldn't be bothered to do my maths homework and the teacher never marks it so I just used a calculator for the easy questions and guessed the hard ones. I then did my food technology homework which I put more effort into because its my best subject. at half past six I went downstairs and made myself beans on toast, as my parents were at my sisters year 7 parents evening, and watched The Next Step, which is my favourite program, while I ate. As I had finished, I changed the channel to the news and heard that somebody had claimed the money of today's lottery draw:
"The winner of the biggest ever lottery draw has come forward! Find out who it was after London Zoo's new baby panda has his life changing operation."
As much as I wanted to hear about the baby panda and his operation, I really couldn't be bothered to wait around to hear it so I headed back upstairs to start my history and geography homework. I had to complete a mind map on 17th Century West African Civilisation for history which took me an hour, by which time my family was home, and then do some structuring thingy about contour lines which took me and hour and a half. Then I wrote in my diary for fifteen minutes about what happened today (it was very boring on the whole):
Dear Diary, today was okay. I did all of my homework as I didn't have any dance classes and that was really boring. I got invited to a sleepover at Lily's house (the new girl) and there was a huge lottery draw which somebody who was already rich probably won. I watched a bit of The Next Step and made myself beans on toast and that was all that happened. MY LIFE IS SO BORING!!!!!! Love Harriet xx
You can tell that I'm amazing at writing in my diary (NOT)! I decided to have an early night as it was 9:15 and I wanted to be awake for food technology tomorrow! We are making bread and I'm SSOOOO excited! Before I went to bed I checked Instagram again and all that was up was a picture of Georgia at some sort of party - I'm not really sure - with a HUGE caption. I couldn't be bothered to read it then so I turned my phone off and eventually got some sleep.
In the morning, I slept in for an extra half an hour (oops!) and I was in a bit of a rush. Just before I left to walk to the bus stop, my phone vibrated and I had and email notification from Georgia. It was a bit weird because Georgia never emails and I never get emails (everyone just texts) so I was slightly confused. I opened the email and the blood went from my head as I read it through. Someone said I had a panic attack I'm not sure but whatever it was, it wasnt nice...
