Annabelle finished cooking and placed the plates on the table. She then poured a glass of wine for the two of them.
"This smells wonderful." Simone said as they sat down to eat.
"Thanks. I guess it's one thing when my mother wasn't around Lola was there to teach me to cook." Annabelle said.
"You're welcome." Simone said. "I didn't realize your mother was Senator Tillman."
"I know I look nothing like her." Annabelle laughed.
"No it's not that." Simone said.
They began to eat and continued to talk.
"My mother didn't want me as a child. I was forced to go to an all girls school. She also couldn't stand the fact that I was into woman. She said it was a phase that I would change." Annabelle groaned.
"That's tough. I work for my aunt. She's my boss. She does know that I'm gay but isn't really all that approving of it." Simone said.
"That has to be tough too." Annabelle said.
Finishing up their dinner Annabelle cleared off the table. Simone went into the living room as Annabelle followed.
"I got to go take care of a few things." Annabelle said. "I don't want to leave you alone."
Simone went into the desk drawer and pulled out her spare gun. "Don't worry I keep this around." Simone said.
Annabelle stared at Simone. The softness returned to her eyes. "Simone if anything happens to you I don't know what I would do." Annabelle said.
"Nothing is going to happen to me. I promise you I can take care of myself." Simone said.
"Alright but if you need anything and I mean anything you let me know." Annabelle said.
"I will." Simone reassured Annabelle.
Annabelle leaned over and gave Simone a kiss on the cheek. "I will be back as soon as I can." Annabelle said.
"I will be here." Simone said.
Annabelle bit her lip as she turned leaving Simone alone. Simone sensed that she was being watched but didn't want to worry Annabelle. She figured that Annabelle was going to try and discovery what was going on with Cat.
As soon as Annabelle left Simone heard a knocking on the door. Walking slowly to it Simone seen Immaculata standing there. Sighing Simone opened the door and let Immaculata come in.
"Is there something going on between you and Annabelle Tillman?"Immaculata questioned.
"No." Simone said.
"How did you car explode?" Immaculata questioned.
"I don't know but it wasn't Annabelle she was with me in her office." Simone said.
"So you still don't know what she did when she was a kid? Like the fact that she robbed a bank. Bombed two different building and killed three people. Her mother Senator Tillman had the conviction overturned." Immaculata said. "Why do you believe she's innocent?"
"I just know she is. The look in her eyes is not that of a killer or even a gangster. I'm telling you, you have the wrong person. Annabelle isn't what you are making her out to be. I promise you that." Simone said.
"I can't trust her. You shouldn't either. Not with all that she has done." Immaculata said.
"I have no reason not to trust her." Simone said. She knew she was risking it all. The look Annabelle gave her was a soft look. A look of trust. Annabelle wanted to protect her.
"Don't say I didn't warn you. I think we need to find someone else to take your place." Immaculata said.
"No. Then Annabelle is going to know that something is up." Simone said. "She trust me."
"Oh." Immaculata pressed a finger to her lips. "I will give you another chance but if something else happens you are being pulled from the case and I don't care what you have to say about it." Immaculata said in a stern voice.
Simone frowned. "Fine."
Immaculata left leaving Simone alone. Simone decided that she had to go see Annabelle to make sure that Annabelle didn't do anything reckless. Getting in her cop car Simone drove to Calico Rainbow. Parking the car she got out and went into the club. Colins was standing by Annabelle's office door.
"Simone she's not here." Colins said.
"Then where is she?" Simone asked.
"I can't tell you. She told me not to." Colins said.
Simone frowned. "Look Colins, I need to find her. It's important."
Colins fiddled with her fingers. "I don't know what is going on between you two but she said for me not tell you because she didn't want you to know about it."
"Colins you either tell me right now or I'm going to find her myself by starting with Cat." Simone warned.
"She's at her place. She is trying to figure out a way to pay Cat back. She kept saying what if Simone was in the car. I can't let Cat get away with this." Colins said.
"Where is her place?" Simone asked.
"It is a secluded place. She has guards all around." Colins said.
"I need to go there. I don't care if you drive me and I'm blindfolded. I need to stop her from making a big mistake." Simone said. "I need to tell her that I care about it. That I can't let her do this."
"Fine." Colins said. "But you are going to have to be blindfolded so you don't know where we are going."
