"Yeah, yeah , no you're right. It's definitely weird. Okay, Bobby, thanks." Sam says then hangs up his phone. We are currently sitting in a diner, well me and Sam are sitting, Dean is trying to get a jukebox to work. Anyways, Bobby gave us call to let u us know of a job that he thinks we should take.
"What's up?" Dean asks as he gives up on the music player and comes and sits with us.
"Uh, Bobby found something in Wyoming." Sam says.
"A job?" I ask.
"Maybe. Small town, no one has died in the past week and a half." Sam says as he searches it up on his laptop.
"Is that so unusual?" Dean asks with a mouthful of a burger in his mouth.
"Well, it's how they're not dying. One guy with terminal cancer strolls right out of hospice, another guy gets capped by a mugger and walks away without a scratch. Police say Mr. Jenkins was shot in the heart at point blank range with a 9mm."
"And he's not a donut?" Dean asks.
"Locals are saying it's a miracle."
"Okay."
"Well, it's gotta be something nasty, right? Demon making deals or something?" I suggest.
"You think?" Dean asks.
"What else would it be?" Sam says agreeing with me.
"I don't know."
"Alright, get that to go." Sam says referring to Dean's burger as he puts his laptop away. I get up to leave.
"C'mon." I say as I notice Dean not moving. He just sits there in thought.
"What?" Sam asks him.
"You sure you want me going with you?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I don't want to be holding you back."
"Dude, I've told you a hundred times, that was the siren talking not me. Can we get past this?"
"Yeah we're past it."
"Good, I seriously think you guys act more like women than I do. Now let's go." I say as Dean gets up. We drive to Greybull, Wyoming which is where the weird things are happening. We drive to the house of the guy who got shot and survived it. This time we're not FBI or homeland security or anything.
"Now, you three said you were bloggers?" Mr. Jenkins asks us. We've already gone through introductions and stuff so right now we're sitting at his table.
"Yes sir, itsallabouthtelore.com." Sam says.
"All of god's glory fit to blog." Dean says.
"Some of the people around town are saying what happened to you was a miracle." I say.
"It was, plain as day." Mr. Jenkins says.
"How can you be so sure?"
"How else do you explain it? The doctors can't . There's a bullet in my heart and it's pumping like a piston."
"Well how do you explain it?" Dean asks.
"Look, honestly I, I was nobody's saint. Not exactly father of the year either."
"Okay."
"But when that guy shot me and I didn't bleed a drop, I just knew the lord was giving me a second chance."
"Is that so?"
"I had this feeling, like angels were watching over me. I wouldn't expect you guys to understand."
"Well, we'll just have to try."
"You wouldn't have happened to have swung by a crossroads in the past week or so?" Sam asks.
"No."
"Maybe you met someone, with black eyes."
"Or red." I say.
"You'd you three say you were again?"
"Nevermind, thank you for your time." Dean says. We get up and leave. Me and Dean get dropped off at a motel and Sam goes out to check out the other people that miraculously lived through something.
"Hey." Sam says as he walks through the door.
"Anything?" Dean asks.
"That cancer survivor, he was clinically dead. His wife pulled the plug and now he's taking her out for their 20th anniversary."
"Any sign of a deal?" I ask.
"No, what about you? FInd anyone dying around here?"
"Not since Cole Griffith. He dropped 10 days ago, it was the last death I could find." Dean says.
"So what are you thinking?"
"Maybe it is what people say it is."
"Miracles." Sam says as he takes Dean's spot on his laptop. "Dean in our experience, when do miracles just happen?"
"Well, there's no deals, no skeevy faith healers I mean, these souls just ain't getting dragged into the light."
"Maybe because there's no one around to carry them." I say.
"What do you mean?" Sam and Dean ask me.
"Well, grim reapers, that's what they do right? So if Death isn't in town.."
"The nobody's dying." Dean finishes for me. "So what? The local reaper's on strike? Playing the back 9? I don't know Ash."
"Then let's talk to somebody who might." Sam says.
"Well last I checked Halle Berry ain't available." Dean says.
"Dude, the kid."
"The kid? The kid's a doornail." I say.
"Exactly. Look, if he was the last person to die around here then maybe he's seen something. We should talk to him."
"I love how matter-of-fact you are about that. Strange lives." Dean says. We figure out where this Cole kid is burried, if he is because first we find out if he was cremated or not. At least luck is on our side this time. We wait until night time to go to the cemetary, we don't want nor need to draw any attention to ourselves.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" Dean asks as Sam gets everything set up.
"No, but if the spirit's around, this should smoke'em out." Sam says as Dean closes John's journal that he was holding.
"What?" I ask.
"This job is jacked that's what."
"How so?" I ask. This seems pretty close to any other job we've worked.
'If you want me to gank a monster or torch a corpse hey, let's light it up right? But this, if we face whatever this is, people are just gonna start dropping dead. Good people."
"Look, we don't want them to die either Dean, but there's a natural order." Sam says.
"You're kidding right?"
"What?" I ask.
"You don't see the irony in that? I mean, the three of us, we're like the poster people for the unnatural order. All we do is ditch death."
"Yeah, but the normal rules don't really apply to us, do they?"
"How? We're no different than anybody else." I say. My god it's cold out. Why couldn't we take a job that was more south, I mean, there's snow on the ground.
"I'm infected with demon blood, you've been to hell and Ash, you, well, I know you don't like talking about it so I'm not even going to say it. Look, I know you wanna think of yourself as Joe the plumber Dean, but you're not, neither am I. The sooner you accept that the better off you're gonna be."
"Joe the plumber was a douche."
"You gonna help me finish this?" Sam asks.
"Yeah." I say as I walk towards him, setting up the candles. Dean gets up too.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" We hear a guy say. We turn our heads to look at him. He's holding a flashlight.
"Uh, just takes it easy." Sam says.
