(( I'm so obsessed with calums back oh my god ))
Finola's POV
———————————
We were halfway through the movie, at least I think we were, when I heard the boys snickering. I glanced at them from the corner of my eye and noticed them staring at us. Michael whispered something which caused them to burst out laughing. Ashton whispered something afterwards, and they fell silent, looking back at the screen to watch the movie. I could still see Ashton looking over at me out of the corner of my eye. Sometimes I wished things were the same with Ashton.
You see, Ashton and I used to be close. Like, best-friend close.

Age 5:
I had moved from Ireland to Australia from a very young age, I think I was five years old. I started school once I moved there, but since I was new, I had no friends. A young boy with sallow-ish skin and curly brown hair walked up to me, his cheerful hazel eyes sparkling under the sun's rays and his bright beam seeming even brighter than those rays. He didn't say anything, just smiled at me and fiddled with his thumbs. We began paying with a jigsaw that was in our classroom. His eyes never left me, and the smile of sunshine never dimmed.
After a long period of silence and trying to find all four corner pieces of the jigsaw, he spoke. "I'm Ashton," he said, blushing fiercely. "What's your name?" He found a corner piece and smiled proudly to himself.
"Finola, my Mummy and Daddy moved here. I'm from Ireland." When we first moved here, Mum was still with ad. Only a couple years after moving to Australia, Dad left my Mum for some girl half his age.
"Can I call you Finny? I'm calling you Finny," Ashton grinned, two large holes appearing on his cheeks. Since I was only five, I didn't know that they were called dimples. I was terrified.
"Ash, you have holes on your face," I gasped. "Miss! Ash has holes on his face!" I was panicking now. I was so naive.
Miss King rushed over, checking Ashton over to see what was wrong, and started laughing. "No, love, they're dimples." She ruffled my hair, standing up and beginning to walk away.
"Oh." I was confused. How was everyone so calm with two giant crater-like holes on Ash's face?
Miss King walked away, still chuckling to herself. "Holes on his face."
"Well anyways, I'm five and a half," Ash spoke up after a pause of silence. "How many numbers old are you?"
"I turned five a while ago." I couldn't remember how many months. I connected another puzzle piece to the jigsaw.
"Are we friends now?"
"Yeah."
"Are we best friends?"
"Yeah."
"Well then you're coming to my house. I have my own room," he boasted. "It's really nice."
Age 8
"Hey, Finny," Ash skipped over to me. "What'cha doing?" He noticed my aggressive kicks towards the cardboard box in front of me and cautiously stepped towards me.
"I'm trying to make a lemonade stand and it won't work!" I pouted, kicking the box again. The box did absolutely nothing to me, I just needed to take my anger and frustration out on something, and I sure as hell wasn't going to take it out on Ashton. "I saw it on TV, and I want to sell lemonade too!"
