( I've been getting into Game of Thrones lately and I'm already on season 4. It's been nearly 5 days lmao help me )
THIS IS A VEEEEEERY SHORT CHAPTER IM SORRY
Finola's POV
———————————
I was getting ready for the dinner we had with mum's fiancé's family. I had a pair of black jeans on and slipped into any hoodie I could get my hands on, which just so happened to be a Marvel one, seeing as it had Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes plastered all over it. I put on the usual makeup, and didn't bother with my hair, just throwing it up into a ponytail.
I wasn't going to dress up for this, they may as well accept me for who I am if I'm going to be seeing them a lot now.
I shoved a pair of white Converse (that was getting a bit too small for my feet) on and headed downstairs to see mum dressed casually as well- sporting a pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt with a black hoodie on top. Thank god.
"We ready to go?" I asked, admittedly kind of excited to meet her fiancé and his family. Kind of.
"I mean, if you want we can be there early. You seem more excited than me," she laughed. "It's just a dinner so you can meet him and his son, Calum. I just want you guys to get to know each other and get along," She explained. "Oh, your phone was buzzing a lot a few minutes before you came. Scared the crap outta me." She gestured over to my phone that was laying on the couch, still being charged. I glanced at the screen, seeing the little green icons meaning I had either a few missed calls, or texts. Or both. It could be both. I picked up my phone, not recognising the number repeated across the screen.
I unlocked my phone, letting my eyes skim over the texts, not realising my hands were gripping on to the phone tighter with every word I read.
"Well, who is it?" Mum questioned. I glanced up at her, seeing a few strands of her dark hair falling in front of her face, concern etched across her features.
"Mum," I swallowed thickly, was I really going to do this? "How much time do we have before we leave?"
———————————
My feet shuffled across the path, kicking stray leaves and loose pebbles out of the way as I made my way to the park. I began rethinking coming here to meet him. I shouldn't be meeting him. Once I reached the bench, I shoved my hands into the pockets of my hoodie and turned back. I shouldn't be here. I should just go home. I checked the time on my phone. 4:48 PM. The dinner's not until six, and David and his son apparently lived maybe fifteen minutes away. I began walking, but stopped once I heard my name being called.
"Finn! Finny!" A hand grabbed my arm, spinning me around. "I didn't think you'd actually meet me." He chuckled, reaching his hand up to rub the back of his neck.
"Why wouldn't I Ashton? And my name is Finola." I sighed, glancing around. "What do you want?"
He looked down, as if he were trying to figure out what to say. He better have a damn good reason, after all he's done. "I'm sorry." Is he serious? "I was hoping we might be able to kind of be friends? I realised how I basically ignored you when the boys came along and I feel horrible. I know we were all total dicks to you and Emma as well and I feel like a douche."
"Ashton, I can't forgive you that easily and I'm positive the others don't even know you're apologising to me right now, so maybe just leave us alone. You've ignored me this long, I'm sure it'll be easy to do it for longer." I checked my watch. 5:07. How has it been that long, we barely said anything, or maybe time just flew. I glanced back up at Ashton, he looked tired.
"Finn- Finola," he ran his hand through his hair. "I just want you to know I'm really sorry, and I'm going to try to make it up to you. Look, I've got to go meet with Luke and Mike-" Is he being serious? He came to apologise for leaving me for Luke and Michael all those years ago and he's literally going the exact same thing now. "-but I'll see you around?" His hopeful eyes glimmered under the sun. I was always jealous of his hazel eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, alright, I'll see you around or something," I muttered. "Bye." I turned to leave.
"Take my apology into consideration," Ashton called out from behind me. "Please, Finola."
I turned out of the park, heading home. I didn't want to go the dinner now, especially in a bad mood, but I also didn't want to disappoint Mum.
