CHAPTER 9
It was a cool afternoon and Yuri and Yumi are sitting inside the car, in front of the cemetery gates. It's Kaley's birthday and Yuri plans to spend the whole afternoon at her grave, so in jeans and t-shirt, she brought a blanket, candles and a bouquet of flowers for her
"You sure you don't want me to go with you?" Yumi asked as she watched her sister stare at the cemetery gates
"No thanks. I think it's better if I go alone" Yuri answered
"Okay, but if you need me just call okay?"
Yuri nodded, opened the car door and slowly stepped out
Yumi looked at her sister with concern, Yuri on the other hand, turned to her and gave her a reassuring smile and with that, Yumi was able to leave.
After her sister left, Yuri stood outside, she sighed heavily and with heavy steps, started walking towards Kaley's grave. The last time she stepped in this place was months ago, when Kaley was placed at her final resting place, after that Yuri never stepped back here again because she knows if she comes back here when she's not ready, she wouldn't be able to handle the fact that the girl she love dearly really was gone.
Yuri reached Kaley's grave and with silence, put the blanket on the grass beside her tombstone, lit up the candles and placed the bouquet of flowers on her tombstone
"Hi Kaley... I'm sorry if I haven't visited you in a while, I missed our 23rd month anniversary, I'm really sorry" Yuri spoke softly, " I had failing grades last semester and I eventually stopped and I know that you hate when I do stupid things like that, but I know better than to disregard my future because you helped me become better" she sighed heavily, and with her voice slightly cracking, continued to speak the things that she needed to say, "I was just...I was a wreck, I was in disbelief, I went crazy when you left Kaley. I begged God, anyone to make me believe that you're just on some long vacation and that one day, you'll just pop up and say" I miss you!" but I know now that that's not gonna happen and It hurts so much knowing that"
Yuri could no longer hold the tears and she started crying, "I miss you so much Kaley..."
Yuri continued to sit there and cried her heart out, it's about time she should, she cried until the tears were gone and all that left was mere silence
"Yuri..." a female voice spoke
Yuri turned and saw Sarah, Kaley's mother, standing behind her carrying a bouquet of flowers. She gave Yuri a lonely smile then crouch down next to her
"It's been a while since I've seen you Yuri" she spoke as she laid the flowers next to her daughter's grave
"Yeah...I'm sorry I haven't contacted you in a while Aunt Sarah"
"It's fine, I understand. Kaley is a big loss to all of us"
A moment of silence passed then Sarah spoke, "...I'm sorry Yuri..."
Yuri looked at Sarah questioningly
Sarah continued to speak "We both know that I wasn't that supportive of you and Kaley's relationship, truth be told, I'm very much against it. I never once imagined that my daughter would even think about loving another girl but, from what I've seen, every time she's with you, that's the time I've seen her at her happiest"
Sarah then turned to Yuri, "Thank you for bringing so much happiness to my daughter"
Yuri smiled and embraced Sarah, and with that, the conflict that between them disappeared as the rays of sun shone brightly as if heaven was smiling for them.
