CHAPTER 34
Yumi was getting dressed for work when her cell phone started ringing, "Dad calling..." the screen showed
She grabbed the phone and quickly answered, "Hey dad!"
"Hi sweetie! Are you doing anything? Sorry to bother you" Tony spoke
"Not at all dad. Why? Did something happen?"
Yumi could hear the worry in her dad's voice. "Well, it's about your sister"
Tony went on and told Yumi tell about how Yuri who suddenly went home yesterday. He said that Yuri didn't bring home any clothes with her, hasn't eaten since yesterday and that she looked very troubled.
"The last time she was like this was when Kaley died" her father added, "I asked her if something was wrong but she just says she's not feeling well and goes back to her room. I'm really worried about her."
"Okay dad I'll come home as soon as I can and I'll go and talk to her" said Yumi, reassuring her worried father, "I'll see you soon"
Yumi sat down and pondered for a bit. When Kaley died, Yuri was so lost. What could've possibly happened now that made her seem like that again? All these thoughts about her sister brought worry to Yumi's mind.
"I need to go see her soon"
-----
It was late afternoon when Yumi arrived. She went to work earlier but took the half of the day off to go home and see her sister.
Once inside the house, she looked around and saw her father on the couch, a seriously worried expression painted on his features
"How's she doing?" Yumi asked as she approached her father
"Still very quiet" Tony replied, "I convinced her not stay too much in her bedroom so she's at the backyard patio. She still hasn't eaten much"
Yumi looked and, in fact, saw Yuri outside, sitting quietly by herself, "I'll go talk to her dad"
Tony nodded and smiled, "Thank you Yumi"
Yumi smiled back at her father then went to see her younger sister. She sat next to Yuri and stared at her. The girl has tired, red-rimmed eyes, probably from crying too much. Seeing how she looks now, she understood why her dad called her.
"Hey Yul..." she greeted, slightly nudging her sister
"Hey Yumi..." Yuri answered softly, "Day-off?"
"Took a leave, my sister needed me"
Yuri showed a small smile and sighed heavily as her shoulder slumped lower.
"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Yumi
Yuri shook her head and remained silent
"Alright." Yumi turned to Yuri and held her arms out, "can I have a hug?"
Yuri stared at her older sister for a bit before moving closer and letting her sister's arms embrace her, "I'm tired Yumi..." she whispered as she wrapped her arms around her sister
"I know. You can take a nap if you want then let's have something to eat when you wake up"
Without saying a word, Yuri settled herself down, laid her head on her sister's lap and closed her eyes. Yumi then began running her fingers through Yuri's hair to relax her until she eventually fell asleep.
Tony stood by the doorway with a content expression as he looked at his daughters. No matter how close he is with them, there is always gonna be a time where only your sibling can help you get through things. Yumi and Yuri's sisterly bond will always be stronger than anyone else's.
