I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes, and a hand resting on my butt.

I laughed lightly, and turned over to see Chase, with his adorable bed head and his mouth parted ever so slightly. I leaned over and kissed his forehead, then rolled out of bed, and walked to my bathroom.

I looked at myself in the mirror, scanning up and down every part of my body. Stopping here and there to scan the flaws. Even if people think I'm flawless, I'm really not.

My eyes roamed upward, and I landed on my face. I had a solemn, but dazed expression waiting for me. "Syrena West, you are not the girl you think you are." I told myself, and I touched the small scar at the top of my right cheekbone, that was yet to be covered with makeup- and sighed.

I seemed to be doing a lot of that lately, sighing that is. Although it did nothing.

I kept standing there, just staring at myself, for no reason at all. Then I saw the door creak open.

"Hey baby girl." Chase said, coming up from behind me, and enveloping me into a bear hug. I smiled, and leaned my head on his chest. "What's wrong?" He asked, and I shook my head. "No, really, what's wrong?" He asked again. I forced a smile out and looked up at him, "Nothing!" He shrugged and shook it off, "Alright then."

He stepped out of the bathroom, and I threw some cold water on my face, staring at my scar. It stared back confidently, as if it knew it owned me. I hate that night, I hate that it has so much control over me, and I hate that there isn't a thing I can do about it.

I sat in the stool by the bar of Starbucks, and scrolled through my Instagram feed. The barista, Josh, as I've come to know him by, passed me my hibiscus refresher, and offered a smile. I smiled back, and took a sip from my cup. "What's been going on J?" I asked him, and he shrugged. "Nothing much, you?" He replied. "Nah, same as usual. Can I get a cake pop?" I asked, and he nodded handing me one from the treat display.

"0.56 cents." He said, and I passed him two dollars. "Keep the change Josh. I need to get going, I think Chase is taking me somewhere." I told him, and he nodded. "Okay, well it was nice seeing you. Will I see you next Sunday?" Josh asked, and I nodded. "Of course, bye J."

"Bye Re." He waved to me, and I turned out of the door, drinking my Starbucks happily. I saw Chase's navy blue convertible pull up in front- the tan top down. I stepped into the car, and greeted my boyfriend with a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi, ready to go?" He asked, and I nodded. "Where are we going?"

"We're going to visit Miley and Jess." He told me, and I gasped. "How'd you convince her to do that?"

"I told her I needed to see Jessie, I mean- she's two now, I haven't seen her since... Oh jeez, since her first birthday." Chase explained, wiping his face with his hand. I nodded, and grabbed the same hand, stroking it with my thumb.

"Jessie!" Chase squealed like a child, and ran over to the little girl. Jessie wore a mint green sundress, and some beige sandals. She had some wavy blonde hair, adorned with a white bow. She was truly adorable.

"Hi daddy!" Jessie replied, hugging his knees so Chase would have to pick her up to hug her. "Hi baby, I missed you! You got so big." He kissed her head all over, and she laughed.

"Hello Chase." Miley greeted him from behind. Chase set Jessie down and hugged Miley. "I missed you." She said into Chase's shoulder, sighing in relief. "I missed you too." He replied, and they pulled apart, both smiling sadly.
