1 month later

Amelia woke up with the sunlight pouring into her room. The curtains had been left open. She smiled and stretched her arms, careful not to wake Oscar. The week had been the best week in her entire life. It seemed that the Heywood's ball had broken the sexual tension between then and she and Oscar couldn't leave each other alone for more than a few moments. They had spent the mornings and evenings making love and the afternoons doing the normal day-to-day stuff. Amelia was filled with new ideas for her paintings. Just thinking about the intimacy bought colour flushing back to her cheeks. It seemed so natural and normal for her and Oscar to be together. The way their bodies fit together and the looks that she seems on Oscar's face.

Disappointingly, Oscar and herself hadn't said anything love but it was evident from their actions that they were, in fact, in love. Well, Amelia was anyway and she prayed with all her heart that Oscar was too. Amelia turned to kiss Oscar but found it empty. She didn't frown, knowing that Oscar probably woke up and didn't want to wake her up.

She quickly got out of bed and put on some clothes without calling for Mary. She felt energetic and light and- happy. She had been content all these years but she hadn't been happy. Now she was and she relished these moments. It all seemed too good to be true. Maybe something awful was waiting to happen. But she quickly shook  the thoughts from her head. No need to become a pessimist. She deserved some happiness. Elating the feelings in her head she went off to find some breakfast.

                                                    **************************

'This cannot be true. I refuse to believe it.' Utter rage filled his head. He was so angry and needed to vent some frustration, hence grabbed the wine bottle and smashed it across the room. Glass shattered loudly and red drops painted the walls.

Oscar sat down on his large arm chair. It couldn't be true. The private investigator and Edward stood silently staring at him. The investigator had finally discovered what his father, Lord Vincent had been hiding and what Amelia  didn't know. But then it hit him-Amelia must have known.

It had been a warm morning when he had awakened and decided to go to the study. Amelia's soft hair had been sprawled against the pillow as she slept peacefully. She was so beautiful and he loved every moment he was spending with her-in and out of bed and he was beyond grateful that she was his to keep. He smiled. Sharing a bed with her was completely and blissfully different to all the other women he had slept with. He had ran his hands through her fiery hair and kissed her on her forehead as he had left bed.

Breakfast was a silent matter with no Amelia to converse with, so he had caught up with the newspapers and then disaster had struck. Harry had come in to inform him that he had a letter.

Oscar had frowned wondering who it could be at that early in the morning- it was from  the private investigator he had hired all those weeks ago telling him that he knew. He was surprised at how quickly the investigator had succeeded in discovering what his father had been hiding. For some reason Oscar was tempted to dismiss the investigator and forget about the whole incident. He knew somehow that the news would not be good.  However, Oscar couldn't. He needed to know. He just had to. So, he had walked him to his study where Edward, his valet had been rummaging through some of his files.

'The investigator will be arriving shortly Edward.'

''Already, my lord?' Edward said looking fairly surprised. Edward was a quiet man and utterly loyal to Oscar. . So far, after such a long time, his master looked like he was finally happy and the beautiful Lady too. They belonged together, anyone could see that. Edward thought about all the times they had tried to deny each other and now-now they couldn't leave each other alone. He didn't like the sound of the news. it was like a threat to break them apart, that's if it is bad news.
