I turned back to Jobe, without a smile.

"I promised Sam that I would show her the best places for surf..." he went on awkwardly, reaching to scratch the back of his neck and looking at the ground.

"Can't one of your other friends show her around?!" I replied in a whinning voice, wanting him desperately all to myself. He's my boyfriend I shouldn't have to share!!!

"C'mon Kay, this is her first time in one of the surf capitals of the world, and now that she has to live here for quite possibly a long time, I might as well show her where the best places for practise are. Can't you be a little compassionate or is that word not in your vocabulary" he finished coldy. He started for the pier when I grabbed his arm and gave him my best puppy dog eyes.

"Can I come along? I guess I should start learning about your favourite sport anyways" I asked shyly, afraid he would shoot me down so he could be alone with Sam.

He looked back with a glint in his eyes, and surprise and excitement in his expression. "You would actually do that?! Its about time!!!" He grabbed my hand and we began to run up to the pier.

Once we got there, the smile had disappeared from Sams face. "Oh, hi there Caydence, Jobe didn't tell me you were coming.. too" she said with tight lips.

"I figured its about time I learn a little bit about my boyfriends favourite sport... maybe I'll end up loving it just as much as he does" I laughed, and Jobe bent down to kiss my nose softly, smelling a musky scent mixed with sea salt and cherry popsicles... his favourite.

We walked along the shore while Sam told us a little bit about her life before she moved here. In Australia, she was one of the top surfers in her age group, and was homeschooled for practice until she was 13, when she decided to go to public school when she moved to San Fransico. She had lived there for 3 years but the surf wasn't all that great, so when she heard she was moving down to Cali, she said she was beyond ecstatic.

I smiled politely as we walked, she talked and we listened, Jobe occasionally pointing somewhere farther out of the coast where the waves were coming in. After about an hour and a half of walking, we decided to go back to my house to order in some chinese, and I was forced to invite Sam to join us.

We sat at my house talking. Well Jobe and Sam were talking surf and proffesionals, I was listening, but tuning out at the boring parts. The best part was that I was content. As long as I was around, Sam couldnt touch a finger on him. Maybe things wont be that bad this school year...

The next day at school, I sat at my desk at first period, earlier than mostly everyone. It was the day before proposed campaigning started, so I had to make a great impression on anyone and everyone.

My hair was curled in loose waves that cascaded down my pastel pink racerback tank top from pink, and just to add to the beachy theme I paired it with baby blue short shorts and a cute pair of flowery flip flops. I looked perfect, and to match my awesome out fit was my awesome mood.

Until the she devil walked through the large open doorway.

I rolled my eyes and turned my head to the window, to distract from the hatred that filled me. I never hated anyone this much, I didn't know why she bothered me so much but it was really starting to get to me and I didn't like it.

"Morning Kay" she smiled sweetly in my direction. How dare she call me my nickname!!!

"Oh, hey there.." Was about all I could muster.

The bell rang and I was saved from further conversing... Thank god. In ran our teacher and we began our lesson.

The day seemed to pass incredibly quickly and before I knew it I was back at home finishing off algebra homework and hoping I could jump in the ocean for a quick swim, due to the crazy heat wave that was suddenly brought on to us. I grabbed an old yellow bikini from my drawer and ran towards the blue.

I ran into the water and splashed around, enjoying the coolness it brought to my skin. I laid on my back and looked upwards, towards the drifting clouds and was thankful I lived in such an beautiful place.

Once I was done lapping in the sparkling water, I swayed back to shore where I sat on the sand and watched the beach on either side of me. Families were having fun and laughing, smiling enjoying the sun and the pretty waters. Couples were strolling hand in hand, basking in the warm glory. Runners had polite smiles on their sweaty faces. Surfers were out catching the late waves of the day, no doubt Jobe was out there surfing with the best of them. I then remembered how much joy surfing brung to Jobe... And unfortunately Sam. My smile faded and I looked down at my sand covered legs.

I heard a familiar laugh and my head suddenly snapped up, looking around suspiciously for the culprit I was looking for. There he was, Jobe. I hadn't even noticed him before, having a band of surfer boys and girls around him, they all just looked like a clan. I looked closer and made out Sam placed right by Jobe's side, as if that was her god given place in life.

Anger flooded through me. I got up and marches straight back to my house. There was nothing in my power that I could do.. I felt helpless. As soon as I got to my room I grabbed my phone and texted Jobe.

Hi babe, how r u??

Three hours passed with no reply. After I finished up my dinner of salad, a few garden sprouts and garlic bread, I padded out the the patio, cell in hand and watched the sunset.

I was brushing my teeth when the familiar text tone of my phone went off. I spit, rinsed and bounded to my bed, jumping on the fluffy covers that engulfed my entire body. I checked my phone.. It was Jobe.

Tired, waves were wicked today!! Hows my princess doing??

I replied quickly and we talked for an hour before I decided to go to sleep, tomorrow was a huge day anyways and I had to be totally well rested and prepared.
