Diego skipped school after waking up with a stomach ache. He was currently sending texts to Vilu, but she wasn't replying.

9:00 PM

The front door opens, Diego can hear his mother's keys jingling as he sets down the second plate of pasta on the kitchen table.

"Hey you made dinner." Smiled his mother as she walked in and took off her jacket.

"Yea I did."

"It looks delicious."

"Thanks."

9:30 PM

Once they had finished eating, Diego volunteered to clean the dishes.

His mother sat at the island drinking a cup of tea.

"So mom did you talk to Vilu's mom ?"

"Yes I did."

"And ?"

"Did you go to school today ?"

"No why are you changing the subject ?"

"Diego you know I don't like you skipping school."

"Yea ok I was sick, now answer me."

"Honey why don't you sit down ?"

"What's wrong mom ?" he dried his hands with a towel and sat across from his mother.

"Sweetheart, I'm afraid, that Vilu passed away." She confessed gently reaching for her son's hand. He flinched.

"This isn't funny mom, now seriously, what did Mrs. Castillo tell you ?"

"Sweetie, I know this is hard to take in, but Vilu's gone, she died in a car accident. Poor girl. She was careful too, she had her seat belt on and everything, the accident is rightly blamed on the drunk driver."

"What the hell are you talking about ? If you didn't talk to her mom yet you can just say so."

"Sweetie no-"

"I'm going to bed ."

Diego storms off to his room, and violently bangs his door shut.
