Machate carried his mother's body to her bedroom. Then he left the house. It was night. The sky was pitch black with bright stars that looked like they were carelessly tossed on there. In the center of Xynnar there was a fire. His instincts told him not to go there, but he didn't listen and ran towards the middle. As he approached he saw cottages on fire and bodies of the villagers on the ground. They were in twisted positions and had bloody slashes on their chests. In the middle of the chaos stood his brother, Caspian. Drenched in a mixture of human blood and his own sweat. Along with him were four other warriors. Two woman and two men. Each holding a unique weapon of there own. Nothing of their weapons were common except they were drenched in blood.
"At long last I finally get to see my brother again." Caspian said in a sly voice. Something was different with Caspian. He was taller and his skin was darker. He wore black armor with the red sign for the shadow lord. These things were less important. Caspian's eyes were what caught his attention. They were bright red now not the hazel eyes he used to have. Machate didn't know much about shadow knights besides from what Caspian had taught him he knew nothing. Caspian taught him a handful of things and this was one of them. Shadow knights get red eyes from slaughtering innocent people or for killing their loved ones. Caspian got the red eyes from killing everyone in the village and those he loved. His parents. They were gone and Machate was next.
