Why did he stop me, a complete stranger?
Why couldn't I have just died?

I finished tying the knot in the rope and climbed out of my bedroom window, on my way to the building of confinement. No, not a prison, I meant school. When I approach the school I go the my old elementary, that I left so long ago. My favorite part of the playground was the swings, which is where I was headed. I stand under the swing set and let out a deep breath. It's exactly midnight. Perfect.

I clutch the rope in my hand tightly, feeling tears pricking in my eyes, fighting to escape. I throw up the rope and thankfully it's long enough. I put everything in place and stand on the swing closest to me to check the height. My measurements had of course been right since that had to be the only thing I'm good at. I place my head in the opening and the tears start to fall. I feel my face get more wet from sudden raindrops.

I always loved rain, it will be nice to see it in my last moments. I started to tug on the rope around my neck but then release my hands and step off.

I choke out barely breaths before I know I can't breathe anymore. I'm about to lose consciousness when I hear fast paced steps and yelling. By now the rain had been coming down hard and fast. My eyes still open slightly catch the face of someone I've never met. And in a voice I've never heard he yells, "I'm getting you out of that!"

Before I can protest, my mind goes hazy and the last thing I remember is being lifted up by strong arms.

[Her Rescuer]

This mysterious girl is in my bed. It's clear she had been crying. I can't believe I just stopped her from killing herself. Who is she? I yawn, then remember how late it was. I pat her hair dry one more time with a towel and cover her in a blanket. I grab an extra blanket from my closet and go sleep on the ground next to my bed. I'll make her talk in the morning. I thought, before I drifted off to sleep.
