"it just hit me as i laid my head down
no one around in the dark cold night, i hear a sound
in my head repeat track of everything you've ever said
must be something, but it's nothing, so i just go back to bed

it's 4, crack the door to the hallways in my dreams
but it seems my hallway keeps closing in on me
forcing me out, making me think about you and how you're gone
i see 4:05 in teary eyes and then i write this song"

tyler slams his notepad shut, not wanting to write anymore, which is unusual; the brunette boy loves writing more than anything, it's his escape.

but he feels like he needs to find a different way to clear his clouded mind tonight.

he slips on his 'grouplove' hoodie and then glances over to the clock, 4:08am. only 3 minutes have passed since his teary eyes last checked the time, he feels like he is forever waiting for morning.

he stuffs his keys in the pockets of his hoodie before he leaves his bedroom and then slowly cracks open the door to the hallway of his apartment.

he creeps down the stairs to the bottom floor; not wanting to awake any of the residents. tyler leaves the building and a cold, powerful gust of wind blows past him.

the boy shivers but begins his walk, not heading anywhere in particular, but taking time to examine his surroundings.

the streets he walks are eerily quiet, very few cars are on the road at this time in the morning, but when one does cruise past tyler shades his eyes from the blinding headlights. he prefers the dark, hence why he's going on a walk at 4 am, not 4 pm.

he continues his stroll until he reaches a small park and decides to head towards it. as he gets closer he spots a girl, around his age, sat on a bench overlooking the park.

tyler determines that he'll take the path going in the opposite direction to her, he doesn't exactly want to socialise right now.

that is until he notices that she is sat with her knees pulled up to her chest, probably due to the fact that it's freezing out and she's only wearing a t-shirt.

tyler tries to walk away, but a wave of guilt runs through him so he overlooks his earlier thought and begins walking towards the girl.

"h-hey.. are you cold?" is all tyler can get out when he speaks to her.

slowly she lifts her head up and hesitates to make eye contact with him, eventually, when she does, tyler looks into her beautiful brown eyes with awe. her eyes suggest she's longing for something, he can see that, but there's so much more mystery behind them.

a few seconds later he notices her tear stained cheeks; what is her story? the boy thinks to himself.

she has chestnut brown hair that flows down to her elbows and full, pillowy lips. in this moment tyler knows, this girl is one of a kind, a gem, a ruby.
