Ash to Ashes part 4.

Hey guys,

It has been a long time since I updated this story. Actually I forgot about it for a while, then I got some comments on part 3 that prompted me back to writing. Yes, that is the power of comments! Comments are awesome!

This part is not especcially interesting I think, just some talking between friends, but it flows into a nice situation.

The next part is already finished... In dutch, so i just have to translate that to english.

Chapter 4.

My friends were sitting at our usual table. Both were staring at the large group of people on the opposite of the hall. I walked over to my Kaylee and Jake.

“what’s going on?” I asked them.

Kaylee answered “Aiden is going on! Look at that group, somewhere in the middle is Aiden.”

I looked again at the group,  a least fifty students surrounding a single table, most of them were girls. Talk about popular. I couldn’t see Aiden himself, but I could see the tiny faerie souls floating around something in the middle of the group. I surpressed a shiver.

“How does he do that? Getting all those people to pay attention to him on his first day?” I asked incredulous.

“Well” Kaylee said “maybe you didn’t notice, sitting right next to him, but he is smoking HOT!!”

Jake just looked miserable, his gaze going from the group to Kaylee. Jake really hates crowds.

Kaylee jumped up “Come on Ash, let’s go to him” and started walking towards the crowd. When she noticed I wasn’t following she turned around. “what’s wrong? Come on.”

Jake and I shared a look. We both really didn’t want to have anything to do with Aiden. Jake shrugged.

“I don’t know Kaylee” I said “I really don’t like Aiden”

Kaylee looked incredulous. “Then why were you on the toilet for so long?” She asked me. “I thought you liked him and was just shy, like you always are when you like a boy”

I didn’t have an answer to that… I mean come on, I couldn’t really tell them about the floating lights, could I?

“well” she said “I am going, I will see you in next class”

And with that she walked over to the crowd and disappeared in it, Leaving me and Jake alone with each other.

“Well…” Jake said with a grin “Are you actually interested in Aiden and shy?”

I sighed and dropped down on the bench next to Jake. The problem was, Kaylee was right, I do get very shy when I get close to the guy I like. That’s why we always joke that my love life is a lost cause. It is not surprising that Kaylee misunderstood my reaction to Aiden and Kaylee seemed determined to make Aiden and me work, or at least to make Aiden notice me.

“Actually NO, I don’t like Aiden.” I said “he is nice looking, but I am not that shallow to go for just the looks”

Jake raised his brows “And what about Wilson? The hunky running back?”

I blushed. Shit, I forgot Wilson, really the only exception to my earlier statement. Thanks Jake for reminding me.

“Yeah, yeah, don’t remind me, Kaylee was going nuts when I told her I liked him, never mind embarrassing.”

“Yeah, I remember” Jake said grinning “remember her inviting him over for movie night. He almost ran away screaming when we put on “Saw””

I laughed “Yes, and later that week he made me promise, never to tell anybody of that night, or else…”

“And him being a cowardly douche, ruined your attraction to him? Talk about shallow!” Jake joked.

“ha ha ha, and what about your romantic conquests? Remember charly?”

“Awww” Jake moaned “That’s unfair”

“Yes it is, but it is the only way to stop you from whining on and on about my love life” I said “by the way, how is it going between you and Kaylee?”

Jake paled.

“Aw, come on Jake, you didn’t think you could hide it from me, did you? I mean, Kaylee tells me everything, and I mean everything.”

“Yeah well...” Jake said after a while “It is going great, I think, I mean… “

Jake didn’t finish his sentence but looked surprised at something behind me. I looked. Kaylee was walking back to us. Behind her was Aiden and at least ten different fey! Aiden smiled at us and waved.
