CHAPTER III 

THIS is one of my favorite party of the year, because unlike most party that we attend this is the only party where they are not talking about business, we are all just catching up with each other's lives. Well, maybe because it'a a reunion party actually, in the middle of the month of June. The tenth year death anniversary of my grand father, they decided that this date will be the official date of our yearly reunion.

Pagdating namin sa bahay ng mga Forbes ay agad na akong humiwalay sa mga magulang ko para hanapin ang mga pinsan ko. Nakita ko sila na nagkukumpulan sa may garden. I smile and wave at them.

"Hi, Maine! Bakit ngayon lang kayo?" Tanong ni Elena na naka-upo sa may nilatag nilang blanket sa damuhan. Kasama nito ang iba pa nilang pinsan na sila Caroline, Jeremy and Matt.

"Hi guys!" Masiglang bati ko sa kanila at tinabihan si Caroline, "May dinaanan pa kasi si Daddy sa office kaya ngayon lang kami nakarating, saka ang traffic."

"Whatever," Elena rolled her eyes at me playfully.

"So what are you guys talking about?" tanong ko.

"Oh, we can ask you for advice in Elena's big problem," Caroline said excitedly. "I know that you're not well experienced with boys but that's actually great because what we need is a persfective of an innocent girl—"

"Shut it Caroline," Elena said annoyed. We all know Caroline can be a bitch sometimes...well, most of the times. Nagtawanan lang ang dalawang lalaki na kasama namin, they are amused by the two.

"So...ano yung problema mo? Baka makatulong ako?" Alanganin kong tanong, I still don't trust my advising skills.

"Oh, kasi ganito 'yan—" she begin to say but Caroline cut her off, just like what she always did.

"Basically, Elena's torn between two hot guys and she can't decide who will she going to choose yet," Caroline said with an eye roll. "Personally, I would choose Stefan 'coz Damon's a jerk."

"He's only a jerk with you," Elena hissed.

"So you'll choose him?" Caroline raised her eyebrow at the brunette.

"Sabunutan na 'yan!" natatawang udyok ni Matt sa mga pinsan, nag high-five ito at si Jeremy.

"Don't be ridiculous," I glare at the boys before turning my attention to the two immature ladies infront of me. "Guys, stop it. Elena, bakit hindi ka kaya magkuwento sakin kung anong mga nagustuhan mo sa kanilang dalawa?" Nakangiting tanong ko. Sa iisang school lang kasi nag-aaral ang apat kaya kilala nila kung sino ang pinag-uusapan. Hindi katulad ko na medyo malayo ang lugar na pinanggalingan kaya wala akong kaalam-alam sa mga nangyayari.

The next couple of hours was filled of Elena's gushing about her boyfriends, Caroline's snide remarks, and Jeremy and Matt's incessant's teasing. I haven't seen my sister yet since we arrive at the Forbes' mansion. Alam ko namang katulad ko ay kasama rin niya ang iba pa niyang mga pinsan.

Pag-sapit ng gabi ay ang tipon-tipon na kaming lahat para sa isang magarbong salo-salo sa may hardin. Malamig ang simoy ng hangin at maraming bituin sa kalangitan, maaliwalas ang paligid. Nakapagtataka ring walang lamok na pagalagala kaya naging maayos naman ang set-up, mukang pinag-handaan talaga nila itong reunion.

I saw ny Daddy happily chatting with his brother's and cousin's while grilling barbecues. It so rare to see my Dad not wearing business suit and being so....casual. I fish my phone out of my pocket and take a candid shot of my father. He saw me because the phone has it's freaking flash light on! He just chukle at me, soon enough all my other relatives are posing for a photo.
