Weeping River

Inspired by Stopping By Woods on A Snowy Evening

The river cold yet still it flows,

In darkness deep and drifting snow.

Water hidden and fallen low.

To hail forest deep in crystal blow.

Through the woods a howl of fear

To pause so close to this darkening sphere.

A shudder of fear with light gone from the sky.

From light of day to joy awry.

To bow his head with hailing shake

Lost and far in this downy day.

A sound, so close, yet far away

Of blackness fallen as led astray.

A river, cold as blackness weeps,

Yet there is so much, dark and deep,

In shadows bowing to fallen sleet,

As youngest day falls in dark and deep.

As youngest day falls in dark and deep.
