“Listen up Ladies! Gamma Phi Beta is ready for you pledges and we already have your first task.” The head of the most popular sorority on campus, Amanda said while pacing and watching us the only way the head of a sorority could. She had curly black hair that came down a little past her shoulders; she had big brown eyes, and a nose ring. Most people thought Amanda was horrible and mean which is why she was perfect for the job, but she hasn’t really been mean to me. In fact, when I came in a little late she smiled sweetly at me and allowed me in. “Delta Sigma Theta, the most popular Frat on campus is throwing a party for pledges for all sororities and frats tonight. Outsiders who aren’t pledging aren’t allowed to come, but they usually end up coming anyway.” She says, still pacing. A small chuckle was echoing around the room but quickly died down. “Everyone is required to go tonight. You will be put into groups and then given a task. Everyone in the group must complete the tasks to be passed through. If one person doesn’t complete it, the whole group fails. So, make sure you get through.” She recites the last line in a way that could scare you into leaving. And I admit the thought came into my head. Then she winked slyly and walked off with two other girls I didn’t recognize. I guess we’re dismissed. I stand up and start to walk off, not really wanting to talk. “Wait!” I hear a girl call out. Her hair is brown and straight a little past her shoulders with deep brown eyes. She’s little as she comes up to me. “Hi, I’m Nicole.” She says, stretching out her hand. “Hi…” I say as I shake it. “Roxanne.” I smile and continue walking with Nicole next to me. “You seemed like the only girl in there who didn’t want to slit my throat.” She joked and I couldn’t help but laugh because I felt the same.
I can’t believe I’m doing this. I was close to the steps of the Deli Sigma Theatre frat or whatever it was. I was frightened it. As my heels clicked on the pavement and I tried to take in my surroundings. There were people already passed out on the grass and people who were going to pass out with one more beer were standing with them; and it was only 8:30. This is pretty intense. Boys were screaming and a boy who was streaking ran past me. He was so fast I was forced to turn around. Now I was terrified. I don’t think I’m up to this. As I turn around I hear the roar of an engine and my head turns to face the front of me. I see a boy on a Harley turn the engine off. He had on a black biker helmet, black V-neck, and dark skinny jeans with white Supras. He was the most attractive boy I’d ever seen. And I haven’t even seen his face. He pulled his helmet off and everyone cheered. Of course, I would’ve cheered too if I had known who he was. His blonde locks were just hanging around his face, but then he ran his fingers through his hair and it was messy but was just perfect. He had these eyes that looked like the clouds and the sky. He hung his helmet on the handlebar of his bike. I walked forwards following the young boy. As he climbed the steps he began the many guy hugs to all of them. I realized I was almost ahead of him and that I should stop staring so I walked up the steps slightly to the right to get out of his way. Don’t trip. Don’t trip. Don’t trip. I tried to calm myself down so I reached up and adjusted the sloppy bun I had in my hair. Playing with my hair always seemed to calm me down. “Hey, hot pants!” I heard someone call, as I was about to enter the building. I turned around and saw the beautiful boy coming up the steps. I saw him eye me from the bottom of my shoes to my brown eyes. He made his way up the stairs in no time and when he was at a somewhat eye level to me considering he was towering over me, placed his hand on my waist and guided me to the guy that I guess was supposed to be the bouncer. “She’s with me.” He told him and I was pretty certain he had and accent and I just couldn’t put my finger on it. The bouncer was kind of tipsy like everyone else and I think this boy and I were the only ones who could pass a sobriety test. “Niiiiicceeeeeeeeeeeeeee man.” The bouncer drunkenly slurred. “I know.” The boy said back and I wanted to punch him in the face. He kept walking forwards past more drunk people and a staircase. “You must be pledging Gamma Phi Beta.” He said, still leading me by waist. He gives me a cheeky smile and begins studying me carefully and then biting his lip. “How do you-” I start, “Well, a sexy girl like you wouldn’t be pledging anywhere else.” He said and I recognized it as an Irish accent, and god was it sexy. I looked away not knowing how to respond and a blush creeped onto my cheeks. He chuckles and lets go of my waist and grabs my hand. He squeezes through the doorway where two people were making out, and then I squeezed by too. He let my hand go and I saw an entrance to a patio and a pool. “Beer.” He says, handing me one I didn’t see him get. “Sure.” I say grabbing it and bringing the bottle to my lips and swallowing the bitter alcohol. “What’s your name?” He asks, taking a big gulp of his beer. “Roxanne.” He nods in approval. “Roxanne.” He repeats, stepping forwards toward me. “Very… uh. Sexy.” He whispers into my ear, his hot breath tickling my ear and he began rubbing circles with his fingers on my arm. I could feel my breath hitch and my heart race. Do you ever see someone attractive but they’re such a stereotypical type of attractive that it’s actually boring? Well, He was the exact opposite. “I’m Niall.” He whispers before beginning to nibble on the side of my neck. I let out a small moan, but bite my lip to restrain. “Roxanne?” I hear a girly voice call. I quickly whip myself around to see Amanda standing there shocked with an evil smile that almost looked like she approved. I also realized that I pushed Niall away. I caught a quick glimpse of him, he had his hands in his back pockets, he was pushing his tongue so hard against the inside of his cheek I could see it poking out, and he had a slight smile. But he looked a little annoyed. Like he was upset I ruined our little intimate moment. But who does he think he is? He can’t just use me like that. “Yes?” I reply giving her a smile. “I’m sorry if I interrupted anything, but you’re group is meeting at the pool in 5 minutes.” She smiled and then walked off. She wasn’t interrupting anything. I grabbed the beer off the island and chugged all of it. I wasn’t much of a drinker but I needed the buzz. “I would tell you to slow down but I would rather offer you another one.” He winked at me leaning on the island with his elbow. “Don’t do that again.” I say flatly. He looked confused at first and then an evil smile crept onto his lips. I’m starting to think everyone around here is evil. “Why, Hot pants… Are you afraid?” he asks slowly edging up to me and caressing circles onto my arm again. I felt my heart start to beat faster. Why does he have this affect on me? I’m not afraid of him. “I am not afraid of you. What’s there to be afraid of? You’re just a frat boy.” I state triumphantly and cross my arms across my chest. “Not afraid of me…” he says edging even closer so out bodies were almost touching. “Afraid of what I can do. And what you can do.” He brings his face close to mine and I can smell his breath that consisted of beer and mint. “Of what we can do, hot and heavy and sensual.” He says and when I think he’s going to kiss me, we separate. “But you have to do a task for your little sorority, so… find me later.” He winks and then walks past me. I take in his scent. I couldn’t recognize it, but it was all of what I imagined he smelled like and it was heavenly. “Promise?” he said, turning around and pointing at me with his index finger, still walking backwards. I didn’t know how to respond so I just nodded. He smiled and turned away walking back where we came from. Why did I respond? Why did he just have this affect on me that I just agreed to do anything and everything he said? I couldn’t ponder it any longer so I decided to head outside. I walked outside and saw a ginormous pool full of floaties and people making out and taking shots. I see the girls all there in tiny dresses and Amanda smiling waves me over. “Jessica!” she calls and a short, tan, black haired girl rushes over. “Explain their task to them.” She commands, and I see Nicole giddily smiling to another girl. She sees me and gestures for me to come over. “Roxanne. You’re actually in the wrong group, I’m sorry.” Amanda says, sincerely but places her hand on her chest in disbelief and I have a feeling it’s not exactly sincere. She takes my hand and leads me away as Jessica explains their task. I see Nicole look at me questioningly and I just shrug my shoulders. She leads me to a set of pool chairs and we sit down, alone. “Okay Roxanne. Or can I call you Roxy?” she says and I just nod. “Okay Roxy, I saw you and Niall getting a little comfort…” she starts and I suddenly began to put pieces together. “Oh no, no, no. Niall and I just met-” I start and she cuts me off. “Oh, Roxy.” She giggles and pats my thigh. “Niall is a third year and just about the most popular boy on campus who gets whatever he wants, whenever he wants. And I’m guessing now he wants you. Now, Niall doesn’t usually go for girls in Gamma Phi Beta because we’re the second best sorority on campus. Usually he hooks up with girls in the other one whose name is irrelevant.” She says, trying to shake off the thought of the other sorority. But it was odd because he said that I was pledging Gamma Phi Beta because I was pretty. But if he doesn’t like girls from there, wouldn’t he assume I was from that other place. “But now I have a new individual task for you.” She says giving me a crooked smile. “What?” I ask, actually in fear. “Get us in with Delta Sigma Theta and you’re in.” she says. What is she trying to say? “Now, I’m not saying you sleep with him or anything although that would help. Just get him to notice you.” I still don’t know what she’s talking about. “Oh Roxy, you’re a pretty girl…” she starts, reaching over and grabbing one of the hairs from behind my neck and twirling it in her finger to form a curl. “And you’re also very intelligent. Besides, you’ve spent more time with the kid than me. You should know how to impress him. Good luck.” She says, rising and patting my knee twice for emphasis. Oh god. What have I gotten myself into?
