“Okay, we need to come up with a good plan. We can’t go in there without having some idea of what we’re up against. Matt, what does the note say?” Stefan looked at Matt.

We were all seated at the kitchen table trying to construct a plan to save Damon and kill these crazy vampires. Caroline had cleaned Damon’s blood off the counter because I was having a tough time doing it myself without blaming myself for what happened.

“It’s addressed to Elena. It says…” Matt trailed off, giving me a reassuring look before continuing, “It says, come to the address below if you want to see your precious Salvatore alive. Come alone.”

Bonnie just squeezed my hand when she saw me wince at the harsh words that Louis had left on the paper.

“Okay, what’s the address?” I asked, standing up.

“Elena, hold on,” Stefan gestured for me to sit back down, “They won’t hurt Damon until they get what they want. Now, if it’s Elena they want, then it’s Elena they’ll get. What we’ll do is this – Elena will go to this address alone. Caroline and I will follow behind and arrive just a few minutes later. Bonnie, you take another car and get there. Matt, this could be extremely dangerous, so this is what I want you to do. Go and meet Jeremy immediately after we leave for this address. I will contact you if we have a serious problem and give you instructions. For now, just stay at Caroline’s house, alright?”

“Alright Stefan, I’ll get going right now,” Matt grabbed his keys and headed to his truck.

“Let me come outside with you, just in case any of those vampires are lurking around. I doubt it, but we can’t be too careful,” Stefan walked outside with Matt.

“Look, whatever you do, do not come to the address unless one of us contacts you, okay? Make sure Jeremy stays in that house with you,” Stefan told Matt before he left.

“Okay, Elena, let’s go. Caroline, Bonnie, and I will follow you in two separate cars. Be careful,” Stefan said as he hugged me.

“I will, Stefan. Thank you guys so much,” I hugged Caroline and Bonnie, grabbed my keys and sped away in my car.

I drummed my fingers impatiently on the steering wheel as I looked for this mysterious house. I looked at the address once again. 62 Maple Drive. I slowed the car down as I reached a large mansion that was protected by a black gate. I stopped my car at the side of the road, hurried out and ran to the doorstep, watching to make sure no one was lurking in the shadows. I pushed the door open cautiously, walked inside, and walked slowly through the house, trying to find out where Damon was.

I looked around to see the high ceilings, cobwebs, and old furniture. It must have been a really old abandoned house. Suddenly I heard Louis’ voice from upstairs. He was threatening someone. It must have been Damon. I told myself to stay calm, so I climbed the stairs slowly and made sure I didn’t make any sound. I tried to hear as much as I could.

“Why are you doing this?” Damon asked, his voice was weaker than usual which made me want to run to him. I had to restrain myself, otherwise we could both get killed. I continued to listen from the stairs.
